Boxabl recently designed a tiny home called Baby Box that can be constructed in 60 minutes. And they’re back with another banger called the Casita! The Casita is another tiny home is more square footage, and it will be ready to move in within a day. Boxabl’s ingenious, foldable designs truly seem to be redefining the tiny home market. These homes can be built in a matter of hours, and they can be shipped directly to any destination. The Casita measures 19 ft long by 8 ft 6 in wide and 12 ft 4 in tall (5.8 x 2.6 x 3.8 m). Once the house has been unfolded, it measures around 19 ft by 19 ft with a 10 ft 9-in rooftop (5.8 x 5.8 x 3.3 m). The interior includes a spacious 9.5-ft (2.9-m) ceiling.

The Casita comes with fully pre-installed wiring and plumbing from the factory, making the installation process for this 13,000-lb (5,897-kg) home incredibly straightforward and hassle-free. In terms of convenience, it is even more convenient than travel trailers. Despite being a folding house, Boxabl claims the Casita is constructed to a higher code standard than many traditional manufactured homes.

There are two versions of the Casita available to accommodate various zoning requirements. The modular version is built in accordance with residential building codes. It is fully equipped with full-size electric appliances, including a refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, and HVAC. It is also equipped with two entry/exit doors and is linked to the grid with a 100-amp service. The modular Casita can be stacked, or connected side by side, if and when your family grows.

Boxabl also offers another version of the Casita – the park model RV option. This model is constructed to meet RV specifications, following the standard ANSI A119.5 RV code. Unlike traditional homes, it is permanently affixed to a rolling chassis, similar to a travel trailer. Some unique features include having only one entry/exit door and the option for a propane-fueled stove. It requires a 50-amp or 100-amp service, much like larger RVs do.

Studio Tololo Ugarte designed a luxurious and sophisticated vaulted tiny home called the Catalejo. Catalejo translates to Spyglass, and the home is heavily inspired by the surrounding landscape. The lines are blurred between the interiors of the home, and the site, creating a truly unique living space.

The site includes four established trees that are over 300 years old, and a unique landscape that is semi-arid during the summer, and lush and green during the spring and winter. The home is equipped with an extra-high arched ceiling, that supports the presence of multiple geometrically-shaped windows.

The home is elevated above the ground, to ensure the existing landscape isn’t heavily impacted. Natural vegetation grows underneath the home. This reduces soil disruption, while also ensuring the landscape naturally regenerates. The unique design also creates the impression that the house is floating above the greenery. The materials used to construct the home, allow it to seamlessly merge with the surrounding environment, while also being durable, and ensuring minimal visual disruption. Locally sourced timber and glass were used to construct the home, forming transparent boundaries that allow natural light to pour into the home, while also providing views of the outside.

As mentioned earlier, the home also includes a vaulted, double-height ceiling that is the star feature of the home. The ceiling supports better airflow while providing lovely views of the surrounding environment. The layout of the home is open and continuous, creating a flexible and free-flowing living space that will adapt perfectly to the resident’s needs and requirements. The windows serve as frames, providing picture-perfect views of the outside.

The home includes a combined living and dining area, as well as a compact corner kitchen. It contains three main access points to the outdoors, one through a large arched glass window, as well as two parallel entrances from the dining and kitchen areas. The master bedroom and bathroom are placed behind the kitchen. The bedroom is equipped with double glass sliding doors, which offer access to the outside. The tiny home also includes an elevated loft area, which can be entered through a timber ladder. The loft serves as a cozy reading space, and it can also house two single beds if needed.

Timbercraft Tiny Homes are known for their luxurious cottage-like models, and the Big Sky lives up to their reputation. It is based on a quaint-axle trailer and features a length of 41.4 feet.

It is on the larger spectrum. The home is based on the firm’s Denali model, but a few western Montana architecture-inspired changes were made. The exterior of the home features a western cedar finish, and a horizontal metal siding, topped with a metal roof.

The interior occupies 399 sq ft and is equipped with shiplap walls, hardwood floors, and a tongue and groove ceiling. The main entrance leads to an L-shaped kitchen, which includes a breakfast bar for two people, an oven, a propane-powered four-burner stove, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a hammered copper sink, and plenty of cabinetry. The living room is closely located, and is quite spacious owing to a high ceiling and generous glazing. This room contains a sofa, and optional French doors that lead to the outside. A porch area can be installed if needed.

The kitchen in this tiny home leads to a hallway, which in turn connects to a bathroom. The bathroom contains a shower with subway tiles, a vanity sink, a flushing toilet, and a stacked washing machine and dryer. The opposite end of the house includes the master bedroom. Since, it is a downstairs bedroom, it has plenty of headroom to stand upright. It includes a king-size bed with integrated storage space, a spacious closet, and a stained black feature wall.

You can install a second loft bedroom in the home if needed. This can be accessed via a staircase from the hallway that is linked to the master bedroom. The second bedroom is a conventional loft-style room as found in most tiny homes. It features a low ceiling, and can sleep one or two people.

This bedroom doesn’t include a lowered platform. The Elsie is powered via a standard RV-style hookup, although off-the-grid options are available. It is amped with a space-saving interior, accentuated by plenty of storage space. The tiny home has the capability to run on or off the grid. It features a length of 22 feet, making it longer than most European models, but still small for a North American tiny home. A double-axle trailer serves as the base and the home is clad in engineered wood, and topped with a steel roof. It also includes an outdoor shower and an exterior storage box.

The interior of the home is finished in maple plywood, and it includes a lot of glazing and a skylight. This allows the home to be pretty light-filled, especially the living room. The living room is equipped with a custom sofa that can be converted into a bed, and a retractable dining/work table that can be pulled out from a kitchen unit. The kitchen contains an oven, induction stove, fridge/freezer, steel sink, and stacked washer and dryer. There is also plenty of cabinetry and steel worktops. A breakfast bar-style dining area has been incorporated for two, it serves as an additional workspace too.

The bathroom is located on the opposite end of the home to the living room, and you can access it via a sliding door. The space includes a shower, composting toilet, and a small vanity sink. The tiny home only includes one bedroom, which can be accessed via a storage-integrated staircase. This is a typical tiny house-style loft space with a low ceiling, a double bed, and storage space.

The Sea Chord can be powered by a standard RV-style hookup or from the solar panels that have been installed on the roof, and then further connected to a battery array in the exterior storage box. We are unaware of the pricing on the tiny home for now.

The home also features a bunch of lovely amenities, all packed into a length of 33 feet. The Kootenay Inventory is an updated and upgraded version of the original Kootenay home designed in 2017. It is founded on a triple-axle trailer and is powered by a standard RV-style hookup.

You can enter the home via a fold-down deck area and a front door that leads to a well-stocked kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a three-burner propane-powered stove, a dishwasher, an oven, a fridge/freezer, a sink, a washer/dryer, and some cabinetry. The living room is closely located, and it includes integrated storage, as well as a fireplace with a mantel. The bathroom is equipped with a chunky concrete sink, a flushing toilet, and a shower.

The home allows you to enjoy the flexibility of a tiny home, without having to downsize way too much. It is the best of both worlds. The house is based on a quad-axle trailer and features a length of 40 feet. It also has an increased width of 10 feet, unlike the typical tiny home standard of 8.5 feet – this allows for a more spacious layout. But, this also entails that the Ventura Park Model will need a permit for towing on a public road.

You can enter the home via double glass doors, which lead you into the living room. The interior is quite spacious and light-filled, on account of a generous amount of glazing. It has a floor space of 400 sq ft, and it includes seating, a wall-mounted TV, an electric fireplace, and shelving. The kitchen is located close by, and it is U-shaped. A fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, three burner propane-powered stove, and a farmhouse-style sink are included in the kitchen. The kitchen also incorporates a breakfast bar with stool seating and storage space. The ground floor also houses a bathroom equipped with a shower, sink, and flushing toilet.

The tiny home contains three bedrooms. The master bedroom is placed on the ground floor, and you can enter it from the living room through a barn-style sliding door. Through the years tiny homes have been innovating like crazy, always surprising us with their unique and clever designs. Another tiny home that recently struck my fancy is the Rubishack by Canada’s Rubitracks. The Rubishack is a one-of-a-kind home with its own engine and off-road tracks, which ensure that it can handle even the most challenging terrains. The Rubishack a motor home amped with a heavily modified truck base and a first-generation Cummins engine which has covered only about 150,000 miles.

Designer: Rubitracks

The tiny home is anchored by four bolt-on tracks which have been constructed by Rubitracks. It is a four-wheel-drive, and can successfully handle rivers, snow, the beach, and muddy terrains. The “home” section of Rubishack is made primarily from wood, and equipped with generous glazing as well as a planter at the front. It measures 16 feet in length and 7 feet in width. The interior is well-designed, and both the driver and passenger seats have been sourced from a 1970s motorhome. Both the seats can swivel at 360 degrees. The double bed has been positioned in front of the driving seat, while the seating area and table have been placed behind it.

The Rubishack tiny home was designed by Rubitracks as a promotional attempt, instead of an actual tiny house that serves as a motor home as well. So, unfortunately, the build isn’t going to be available anytime soon in the market. However, it is an innovative creation that truly pushes the boundaries of what a tiny home can be. The Rubishack can powerfully work through landscapes with different terrains, which is truly a feat in itself.

Based on a double-axle trailer, the Hartley home features a black metal cladding, amped with generous glazing, allowing sunlight to stream in throughout the day. The home is powered by a standard RV-style hookup.

You can enter the home via double glass doors, wherein you are welcomed by a 290 sq ft floorspace. The interior is finished in plywood, with the entrance leading you to the kitchen. The kitchen is well-stocked, and well-designed, equipped with an oven with a four-burner-propane-powered stove, sink, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, custom cabinetry, and a pull-out pantry. The kitchen also includes a two-person breakfast bar. The kitchen and the living room are connected. The living room includes a sofa, a small deck, as well as a storage-integrated staircase.

The opposite end of the home includes the bathroom. The bathroom is pretty spacious and roomy for a tiny home, and it is equipped with a shower, flushing toilet, vanity sink, and loads of custom cabinetry. The Hartley includes two bedrooms – both are loft-style spaces that you typically find in tiny homes. The bedrooms have low ceilings and double beds. The main bedroom can be reached through the storage-integrated staircase, while the secondary bedroom can be accessed via a removable ladder. The double bed in the second bedroom can be switched to two single beds if needed.

Currently, we are unaware of the price of the Hartley tiny home. We do know that there are plenty of options available for the Hartley including color, materials, and cabinetry choices.
