Turning 350 Razor Blades into a Super-Sharp Damascus Steel Knife

But why make a massive blade out of something that can ALREADY cut things – you ask? It probably sounds like using a lot of small LEGO bricks to make one large LEGO brick, right? Well, the thing with razor blades is that they’re made to serve a finite purpose. They’ll last a few days, maybe a few weeks, and then they need to be discarded. Razor blades are ridiculously sharp, but they’re also ridiculously flimsy and you can break one with your own hands… so YouTuber Knives Project decided to just use a bunch of them to make something more everlasting, more worthy of being cherished, while being just as sharp.

It took 350 blades being forged together into a metal ingot to make this final knife. The result is truly heirloom-worthy. The knife sports a gorgeous marbled blade created thanks to the combination of the steel used in the razors as well as the steel powder added into the ingot to fill in the air gaps. The knife finally gets a nice wooden handle with a bit of metal at the beginning of the hilt.

Designer: Knives Project

The 15-and-a-half-minute video guides you through Knives Project’s process, from forging the steel ingot to shaping it, etching it, honing it, and then building the handle for the knife. The result looks rather artisanal, with a kitchen knife-style design sporting a drop-point edge and a wonderful marbled body reminiscent of Damascus Steel. The knife also comes with a wooden handle with an octagonal cross-section that’s easy to grip and maneuver.

Razor blades are primarily made from martensitic steel – a steel alloy known for its high strength and wear resistance, with the more expensive ones being made from carbon steel. Given that the knife uses 350 of these razors, it’s possible Knives Project sprung for regular blades, adding them one by one into a bolt to create a cylindrical form. The cylinder was then dropped into a hollow metal block and all the air gaps were filled with steel filings, resulting in a solid block that had no air gaps.

Once the metal block goes into the furnace, the steel inside begins melting, forming a rough cluster that Knives Project extracts by opening the outer box using an angle grinder. The reason is that this outer box is made of iron, while its internal components are the steel you need to form into an ingot.

The process involved constantly heating, hammering, and forming the resulting metal ingot into a flat strip that could then be cut into the knife’s shape. Once cut, the surface was made smooth before being dipped into an acid bath to reveal the marbled pattern caused by the different kinds of steel used in the knife.

Once the blade was completely ready, Knives Project added a handle to it, using primarily wood combined with metal and a black block of presumably polymer to create a fair amount of contrast. The handle was given an octagonal cross-section and a fairly simple silhouette. Arguably a knife this pretty could be given a prettier, more ergonomic handle, but then again, that may steal from the star of the show, its blade – forged from 350 razors. Now if only Knives Project could cut that blade up into 350 pieces and turn them back into razors!

Flashlight design concept reframes an ordinary tool as a familiar smartphone

There’s no rule that says everyday tools need to be mundane and boring. With the trend in everyday carries and kits, people are discovering how ordinary objects can become more interesting or even more functional by changing their designs. Sometimes that means giving the object a fresh new look, one far removed from the original design and yet even more familiar to people. A flashlight, for example, doesn’t have to just be a cylindrical or rectangular stick you point with, and this concept design runs with that freedom to envision alternative forms, giving it the shape and interface of one of the most familiar products of this age: our smartphones.

Designer: Sihyun Choi

There is, of course, a good reason why conventional flashlights are shaped as long fat cylinders. They’re easy to grab and wrap your hands around, and their length allows you to possibly insert it in narrow spaces. There might also be some traces of their original inspiration, the equally cylindrical candlesticks. It might be an ergonomic design, but ergonomics can change over time as well.

Today, for example, many people are just as adept at grasping their smartphones in their hands, which is the inspiration behind the WHITT concept. In a nutshell, it takes the basic form of a smartphone but puts the internals of a flashlight instead. It’s not a completely faithful recreation of a smartphone, of course, considering it tapers to one side a bit. It actually looks more like a lopsided flask or even a handheld laser projector in this case.

WHITT is also operated like a smartphone, at least when it comes to turning it on and off. The button is at the side, like where you would find a phone’s own power button, which is something we probably unconsciously push dozens or even hundreds of times a day. The similarities end there, however, as the flashlight isn’t even powered by rechargeable batteries. It uses two AA batteries that can be easily swapped out, unlike the fixed batteries inside smartphones.

As interesting as the design might be, it still leaves the question of ergonomics hanging. Opposite the tapered side is a curved edge with a ribbed surface that should improve the flashlight’s grip. Even then, a cylindrical flashlight is probably still easier to grip firmly, which is an important aspect of the tool’s utility.

The Ultimate Tactical EDC Upgrade: Tekto’s A2 Badger OTF Knife Packs a Punch

Named after the world’s most fearless animal, the Honey Badger, the A2 Badger from Tekto has quite a reputation to live up to… and let’s be honest, it does. It’s tiny yet ridiculously capable, with a 1.85-inch OTF blade on the front that deploys as soon as you hit the switch on the handle, and a glass-breaker on the end that makes the A2 Badger a formidable EDC literally from head to toe!

OTF knives are a little different from your standard folding blades; they’re spring-loaded switchblades that shoot straight out from the front of the handle. It’s a thrill to watch and even better when you realize just how functional that quick deployment can be. Whether you’re a tactical aficionado or just someone who appreciates a well-designed knife, the A2 Badger could be your new favorite.

At first glance, you wouldn’t expect much from a knife that measures just 5.26 inches when open. But don’t let the size fool you. The A2 Badger packs a 1.85-inch tanto-style blade made from titanium-coated D2 steel. This isn’t your average pocket knife. The tanto blade’s angular tip is engineered for strength, perfect for piercing tasks or cutting through tough materials. And because it’s coated in titanium, the blade offers added durability and resistance to wear and tear. It’s the kind of material you want on your side when you’re deep into an outdoor adventure or facing a split-second emergency.

The A2 Badger button boasts an exceptional grip, ensuring maximum grip and control in any situation.

With its compact and lightweight design, the A2 Badger is both easy to store and transport, making it a popular choice among outdoor enthusiasts and those with limited space.

Featuring an oversized lanyard hole, this knife design accommodates a wider range of attachment options, including larger cords and paracords.

The A2 Badger doesn’t just stop at being sharp; it’s thoughtful in its design, too. The oversized lanyard hole is a small detail, but one that makes a big difference. You can easily thread larger cords or paracords through it, making the knife more accessible when you’re in challenging environments. Speaking of environments, the 6061 aluminum handle is lightweight yet durable, designed to withstand the kind of rugged conditions that would send a lesser knife packing. Plus, there’s a button lock mechanism in place that ensures the blade stays secure, whether you’re opening or closing it, so you can count on the knife when it matters most.

But what makes the A2 Badger stand out isn’t just its functionality—it’s how easily it fits into your life. At a featherlight 2.18 ounces and just 3.3 inches small when closed, this is Tekto’s smallest OTF knife (even tinier than their A5 Spry Mini). Yet, its size is deceptive; this little tool is nimble, quick to deploy, and engineered for ambidextrous use. A pocket clip can be attached on either side of the handle, making it perfect for left or right-handed users. Plus, at the end of the handle is a glass-breaker tip that can be used to shatter through even laminated and reinforced glass panels – perfect for an emergency escape (especially when paired with the D2 blade for cutting through seatbelts). It’s an ideal everyday carry tool, whether you’re heading into the great outdoors, running errands around town, or even protecting yourself in an emergency.

For those who like options, Tekto delivers. The A2 Badger comes in three grip colors—Black, Desert, and OD Green—so you can match it with your style or other gear. Whether you’re a seasoned outdoorsman, a first responder, or just someone who values great design, the A2 Badger proves that sometimes, the best things really do come in small packages.

Leatherman ARC Obsidian: The Ultimate Everyday Carry Multi-Tool

Leatherman has been a trusted name in multi-tools for years, and when it comes to everyday carry (EDC), the ARC Obsidian is nothing short of the mother of all EDC tools. At Yanko Design, we appreciate practical and well-designed gear, and this multi-tool hits the mark. Made in the USA, the ARC Obsidian is built to handle everything from routine tasks to more demanding situations, making it an essential piece for anyone serious about their everyday carry.

Designer: Leatherman

A Thoughtful Blend of Functionality and Durability

Right away, the ARC Obsidian’s matte black PVD-coated handles catch your attention. The coating gives it a refined, professional look and helps protect the tool from corrosion and wear over time. The combination of the PVD coating with DLC-coated components makes this tool highly durable and able to withstand everyday use and more challenging environments.

At the center of it all is the MagnaCut steel blade. Known for its toughness and excellent edge retention, this steel gives the blade strength and longevity. Whether you’re dealing with small, precise cutting tasks or something more demanding, the blade stays sharp and resists corrosion, a must for anyone who needs reliability in their EDC.

Despite being packed with tools, the ARC Obsidian maintains a compact form. With a closed length of 4.25 inches and a weight of around 8.6 oz., it’s easy to carry without feeling cumbersome. The balance between size and functionality makes it a perfect fit for those who need a tool they can rely on for everyday tasks and in more challenging environments.

Easy Access and Ergonomic Design

One key aspect of the ARC Obsidian is its user-friendly design. Leatherman’s technology makes it easy to access many tools with just one hand, which is a huge plus when you’re multitasking or in a situation where one hand is occupied. The tools open smoothly and lock into place securely, giving you confidence in their stability during use.

The locking mechanisms are beneficial with tools like the pliers and bit drivers, ensuring that they won’t accidentally fold or shift once they’re in use. Every tool, from the scissors to the file, is strategically placed for easy access, meaning you won’t waste time hunting for the right one. The convenience of grabbing the tool you need quickly makes it a versatile option for any EDC setup.

How the tools are arranged also helps reduce hand strain during extended use. Whether you’re tightening a screw with the bit driver or cutting through material with the saw, everything is positioned in a way that feels intuitive and ergonomic, making the tool easy to handle over time.

Built for Versatility with 20 Tools

Leatherman has packed 20 useful tools into the ARC Obsidian without sacrificing usability or portability. It comes equipped with everything from a large and small bit driver to needlenose pliers and a saw. The MagnaCut blade, as expected, performs flawlessly across different applications, retaining its edge even after extended use.

One of the most requested features—bit drivers—has been integrated into the design with both large and small options and nine double-ended bits. This means that no matter what kind of fastening task you encounter, the ARC Obsidian has you covered. The variety of bits, including Torx, hex, and Robertson, ensures you’re prepared for almost any situation.

Additionally, the replaceable wire cutters and hard-wire cutters mean that heavy use won’t wear the tool down over time. These components can be easily swapped out, prolonging the tool’s life without needing an entirely new multi-tool. Other features like the diamond-coated and wood/metal files add to the tool’s versatility, handling everything from sharpening to smoothing rough edges.

Despite the range of tools, the ARC Obsidian remains slim and easy to carry. This balance between function and portability is one of its greatest strengths, ensuring that you always have the right tool without adding unnecessary bulk to your gear.

Ready for the Toughest Conditions

Durability is one of the ARC Obsidian’s key strengths. The MagnaCut steel blade offers exceptional corrosion resistance, toughness, and long-lasting sharpness. This material is well-suited to handle everyday tasks, but its reliability becomes even more valuable in harsher environments. Whether you’re working through routine jobs or tackling more rugged conditions, the blade is designed to maintain its edge and perform consistently over time.

The PVD-coated handles and DLC-coated components further reinforce the tool’s durability. These coatings help protect against corrosion and wear, ensuring the tool remains functional and looks sharp even after heavy use. Whether in a humid, wet environment or used daily, the materials chosen for the ARC Obsidian keep it going strong over time.

For anyone who values a tool that can handle a bit of everything—from cutting and fastening to filing and crimping—the ARC Obsidian is built to last. It’s designed with durability and functionality, making it stand out from other multi-tools, no matter the conditions it faces.

Ready for Everyday Tasks or the Unexpected

The ARC Obsidian isn’t just about extreme environments or specialized tasks. It’s also built to handle the little things you face daily. Whether you’re cutting rope, fixing gear, or just tightening a loose screw, this multi-tool is versatile enough to cover a wide range of everyday tasks.

Tools like the spring-action scissors, the bottle opener, and the wire stripper add to the tool’s usefulness in routine situations. The MagnaCut blade makes quick work of cutting tasks, from slicing through thick material to handling more delicate jobs, and the one-handed operation adds convenience, particularly in moments when you need to act fast.

Versatile for Any User

While it’s a strong choice for professionals who need a reliable tool for demanding jobs, the ARC Obsidian works just as well for those who value having a high-quality multi-tool in their everyday carry. It includes replaceable wire cutters, hard-wire cutters, and various bits, making it practical for many users.

The ARC Obsidian’s versatility means it’s not limited to one type of user. It’s equally useful for outdoor enthusiasts, DIYers, and anyone who values a reliable tool they can carry daily. With 20 integrated tools, all in a slim and durable package, this multi-tool proves that you don’t have to compromise between functionality and portability.

Leatherman’s ARC Obsidian redefines what an EDC tool can be. Whether it’s the MagnaCut blade, the durable coatings, or the carefully arranged tools, every detail is designed to provide the best in everyday use and more demanding situations. It’s the kind of tool that’s always ready, no matter what’s ahead.

EDITOR'S QUOTE:

The Titanium Milanese Loop brings next-level engineering, rivaling Rolex's precision, durability, and seamless blend of luxury and functionality.
award-icon

When I first saw the Milanese Loop for the Apple Watch Ultra 2 at the Apple Glowtime event, it immediately grabbed my attention as an impressive leap forward in band design. Inspired by stainless steel mesh historically used by divers, this new Titanium Milanese Loop is made from woven, corrosion-resistant titanium wire. It’s flattened and polished to a stunning satin texture that balances ruggedness and elegance. The parachute-style buckle features dual side-release buttons that close with an audible click, giving a sense of security whether exploring the ocean depths or heading out for a night on the town.

Designer: Apple

This band perfectly complements the Apple Watch Ultra 2’s rugged design, offering lightweight durability while looking refined. Whether heading into a meeting, swimming in the pool, hiking, or deep diving, I know the Titanium Milanese Loop can handle it without sacrificing style or functionality.

Now available in a striking new black titanium finish, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 proves why it’s the go-to choice for serious athletes and adventurers. Featuring the brightest display ever on an Apple device, the Ultra 2’s LTPO2 OLED Always-on Retina display delivers up to 3000 nits of brightness, making it highly visible even in the harshest sunlight. In comparison, the Apple Watch Series 10 offers a display brightness of up to 2000 nits and a wide-angle OLED that increases brightness by up to 40% when viewed at an angle. The Ultra 2 delivers battery life, lasting up to 36 hours during regular use and 72 hours in low power mode, compared to 18 hours of standard usage on the Series 10. Combined with the new Titanium Milanese Loop, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 represents a seamless marriage of aesthetics and performance, capable of handling the most demanding terrains while looking sophisticated enough for any occasion.

Design, Custom Fit, and Next-Level Engineering Marvel

The Milanese Loop design has a long history rooted in traditional chainmail used by divers, but Apple has reimagined it with a modern touch. The Titanium Milanese Loop, crafted specifically for the Ultra, caught my eye from the moment I saw it at the Apple Glowtime event. Made from aerospace-grade titanium, the band is lightweight and corrosion-resistant, offering strength and comfort—a perfect match for the Ultra 2’s rugged yet refined style.

What impressed me most was Apple’s commitment to craftsmanship, as the band is created through a meticulous process of weaving, flattening, laser-welding, grinding, and finely polishing the titanium wire to form a precise, interlinking mesh that balances both strength and flexibility. This design drapes comfortably on the wrist while maintaining durability. I immediately appreciated the dual-button, parachute-style buckle, which made adjusting my wrist’s natural fluctuations throughout the day incredibly easy. Whether due to temperature changes or the ebb and flow of daily activity, I could quickly loosen or tighten the fit without needing to remove the watch. This level of adjustment, down to 1mm, truly made the band feel custom-made for my wrist.

Apple’s decision to use titanium wasn’t only about strength and practicality for everyday use. The dual-release buckle offers peace of mind, providing a secure fit during various activities without any concern about it coming undone. Whether in natural or black titanium, the band perfectly complements the Ultra 2’s new black titanium finish. Achieved through a custom blasting process and enhanced with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating, this finish provides excellent scratch resistance, ensuring the watch and band look as good after months of wear as they did the first day I tried them.

The Titanium Milanese Loop combines aesthetics, ruggedness, and sustainability. Made from 95% recycled titanium, this band aligns with Apple’s focus on environmentally responsible materials. In my experience, it’s a stylish, practical, and durable accessory. This blend of qualities makes it a great long-term choice for anyone seeking a band that complements the Ultra 2’s versatility and style.

Fit and Comfort: Tailored for Performance

The Milanese Loop for the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is breathable and flexible, making it a great fit for all-day wear. Depending on your personal preferences, there are a couple of things to consider. While some users with wrist hair might experience slight pulling due to the mesh design, I haven’t had this issue myself.

As someone who prefers a snug fit, I tend to wear my watch a bit tighter to prevent it from moving around, a habit formed from years of wearing traditional mechanical watches. If you wear the Ultra 2 tightly, as I do, you’ll notice a slight indentation after a long day, but there’s no discomfort associated with it. It’s more about leaving a mark than feeling any pain. This tight fit keeps the watch in place, making it feel more secure during physical activities, whether hiking, diving, or running errands.

This band’s ability to adjust down to the millimeter makes it incredibly versatile for any wrist size. It’s great to know Apple offers an extra-long tail version for those needing additional length—whether to wear over a wetsuit or simply because of larger wrists.

For me, the combination of the Titanium Milanese Loop and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is all about striking the right balance between durability, comfort, and design. It’s the kind of band that seamlessly fits into my daily life, whether I’m out hiking, working in the yard, or tackling outdoor adventures. This band doesn’t just look good; it’s made to endure, and it pairs perfectly with the rugged nature of the Ultra 2. The thoughtful engineering and comfort of the Milanese Loop make it feel like it’s built to last, keeping up with the adventurous spirit that the Ultra 2 embodies.

Band Size and Fit

I went with the medium size for the Titanium Milanese Loop, which fits perfectly. The buckle centers squarely on the back of my wrist, which, for someone like me with a bit of OCD, brings a sense of balance that I appreciate. Wearing a watch every day is an intimate experience, and I pay close attention to how it sits—whether it’s a mechanical watch with a deployment buckle or a tang, every detail matters. The centered buckle feels right and adds to the comfort of wearing the Ultra 2 all day.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 on Titanium Milanese Loop

At the Apple event, I had the chance to try on the small size, but I could barely get the watch past my knuckle. Unless you have particularly thin wrists or plan on wearing this over a wetsuit, I’d recommend opting for the medium. It strikes the right balance for everyday wear, and it offers enough room for quick adjustments when needed.

Here are the official band size details:

  • Small: Fits wrists 130–160mm.
  • Medium: Fits wrists 155–185mm.
  • Large: Fits wrists 180–210mm.

With those ranges, the medium size should comfortably accommodate most wrist sizes. However, for anyone needing extra length—especially for wearing over bulkier gear like a wetsuit—the large size is the way to go. In my experience, getting the right fit goes a long way in maximizing the band’s comfort and aesthetics.

Value: A Long-Term Investment

Priced at $200 on its own or $100 more when bundled with the Apple Watch Ultra 2, the Titanium Milanese Loop might seem like a luxury option for an Apple Watch band. However, compared to titanium bracelets from brands like Rolex and Omega, which typically cost in the range of thousands of dollars, the value becomes clear. Apple has crafted a premium product that brings the high-end feel of titanium—usually reserved for much more expensive timepieces—into the world of wearable tech at a fraction of the price.

For someone like me who regularly upgrades their Apple Watch, the band’s value goes beyond the Ultra 2 itself. Apple’s consistent design language across its product line ensures this band will likely remain relevant with future watch models. Investing in this Titanium Milanese Loop means you’re getting a durable and stylish band that will serve you through multiple upgrades.

Another critical factor is the dual-lock system, which offers unbeatable security. Whether I’m out hiking, diving, or just going about my daily routine, I know the band is securely fastened, giving me peace of mind no matter what. Its durability, ease of use, and ability to adapt across future models make this band a smart investment for anyone who values functionality and design in their Apple Watch accessories.

Final Thoughts

The Titanium Milanese Loop for the Apple Watch Ultra 2 has quickly become one of my favorite bands. It offers that perfect mix of durability, premium design, and all-day comfort, whether in the field or just going through my daily routine. I’ve been wearing it for everything from outdoor activities to long workdays, and it never fails to deliver on comfort and style. I’ll continue to revisit this band in future articles as I spend more time with it. If you have any questions or thoughts about the band, feel free to drop me a note—I’d love to hear your feedback!

7-in-1 Titanium EDC Multitool combines both Tactical Gear and a Toolshed into the Ultimate Portable Form

Imagine a toolbox that fits in your palm. Not a metaphor, but an actual toolbox of sorts. The Titanium Multifunctional Magnetic Screwdriver or the TI-MMS for short, is a marvel of compact multitool design that packs a surprising punch. Small enough to disappear in your pocket but packed with enough features to handle a range of everyday situations, it’s like a Swiss Army knife that’s been reimagined for the modern tinkerer. Crafted from Grade 5 titanium, this EDC is light, corrosion-proof, and tough enough to survive whatever you can throw at it—whether that’s a quick fix at home, an emergency situation, or a tactical escape.

Designer: Comandi

Click Here to Buy Now: $69 $99 (30% off). Hurry, only 174/200 left!

About the size of a car keyfob, the TI-MMS packs as many as 7 different tools within its palm-sized design, starting with a multi-bit screwdriver. Inside its compact frame, you’ll find a set of 4 hex bits neatly stored with magnets. No more digging through a drawer or toolbox for the right bit—when you need a driver, the TI-MMS lets you mount those bits on top for a standard screwdriver experience. However, if you want to upgrade your drive, mount the bits on the side, within the TI-MMS’ ratchet mechanism that lets you apply some serious torque without feeling like you’re wrestling a stubborn screw. This side-mount option offers a more comfortable grip, especially for those longer jobs where your wrist usually starts protesting.

Beyond its screwdriver duties, the TI-MMS also handles everyday tasks like a breeze. Tucked into its sleek body is a multi-functional pry bar, perfect for prying open stuck lids or pulling out nails. Cutouts in the multitool’s side serve as a hex wrench, with slots that fit 4mm and 6mm nuts, making it handy for tightening bolts when a full toolbox isn’t an option. And for those moments when you need to slice through something—be it tape, a package, or whatever else life throws at you—there’s a foldable scalpel blade that takes replaceable 11# surgical blades. The best part? It’s TSA-compliant. Just pop the blade out before flying, and the tool remains travel-friendly.

While the scalpel blade is designed to also serve as a self-defense tool, the TI-MMS’ integrated window-breaker is perfect for tactical and emergency exits – a feature you hope you never need but are glad to have just in case. A ceramic bead is perched at the top of the tool, ready to smash through glass in an emergency. You never know when you might need to make a quick escape, and this little feature makes sure you’re covered, whether you’re dealing with an actual emergency or just one of those days when you accidentally lock yourself in (or even outside) the car.

In true multifunctional spirit, the TI-MMS also throws in a blunt saw edge (conveniently placed on the pry bar) for more stubborn cutting like thick branches. And for the night owls or outdoor adventurers, there’s an option to install tritium vials in six pre-cut slots, giving the tool a glow-in-the-dark effect that makes it easy to find in your bag or tent, even when the lights are long gone.

Grade-5 titanium was an inspired choice for this tool. Known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, the TI-MMS is built to last while staying remarkably light. At just 80 grams, it’s easy to carry around in your pocket or attached to a keychain, without feeling like it’s weighing you down. Details like brass gaskets and a well-designed integrated lock for your blades just add a chef’s kiss to the overall build. Although the folks at Comandi don’t explicitly say so, the multitool should last you decades without showing any signs of giving up. That’s where the replaceable scalpel blade comes in handy too, allowing you to switch old blades out for new ones so you spend less time sharpening your multitool’s blade and more time actually using it.

And while the TI-MMS covers almost everything you could need in a tool, there is one thing I personally miss: a bottle opener! After a long day of fixing, prying, and cutting, wouldn’t it be nice to crack open a cold one? The TI-MMS ships globally, starting at a discounted price of $69. This includes the compact 7-in-1 multitool itself, along with a detachable scalpel blade, and free worldwide shipping.

Handsome EDC flashlight is compact, powerful, versatile, and is also a power bank

Life is like an adventure. You never know where it takes you so you best be prepared with the right tools to face anything. Everyday Carries have become popular exactly for this reason, making sure you have everything you need for any situation. Of course, not all tools are made equal, and some designs come in small packages at the expense of functionality and usefulness. A small flashlight, for example, might be able to do just one thing, and it won’t last very long on small AAA batteries. There’s no rule that says you have to pick between power and portability, and this very capable flashlight is proof of that. It crams no less than three types of very bright lights and can even function as an emergency power bank, all while sporting a compact palm-sized design that can withstand any weather condition or even an accidental drop in a puddle.

Designer: LOOP GEAR

Click Here to Buy Now: $57 $99 (43% off). Hurry, only 930/1000 left! Raised over $174,000.

EDC flashlights are quickly growing in number, and they’re defined by how small they can be to fit in your pouch or even your pocket. Most of the time, the smaller devices get, the less capable they become, but the LOOP GEAR SK05 is ready to prove them wrong. A small handheld device can function as a floodlight, a spotlight, and even a sidelight with enough brightness to let you safely see in the dark or call for help. And it’s designed to be easy to use with one hand, freeing your other hand to take action when needed.

The LOOP GEAR SK05’s ergonomic design includes grooves to rest your fingers on one side, and a rounded trim edge on the opposite side for your palm, giving you a confident grip whether you hold it with your right or your left hand. The dial ring that sits on the side is the only control you need to operate the flashlight and it’s conveniently always under your thumb, no matter how you hold it. You can easily switch from floodlight to spotlight with a turn of the dial or press the center button to activate the sidelight. There’s also lockout mode so that the flashlight doesn’t turn on accidentally in your pocket or bag and drain the battery or, worse, cause a fire hazard.

Spotlight & Floodlight Fast Switch

Sidelight

With its small size, it’s pretty mind-blowing how bright the SK05 can be. The SK05 Pro floodlight can reach a maximum of 3060 lumens output (2250 lumens for the base SK05), and the maximum beam range for the spotlight is 405 meters (370 meters for the SK05). The sidelight is no slouch either, featuring five modes (Constant Light, Flowing Light, Running Light, Night Light, and Colorful Light) and seven colors (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Purple), and you can even adjust the brightness for each of these. The sidelight can be used not just to illuminate or set the mood but to also call attention in case of an emergency.

Powering the LOOP GEAR SK05 are two rechargeable 18650 batteries, but the EDC flashlight is so robust that it can even work with a single battery thanks to the SK05 Pro’s parallel circuit design. You can also easily pop off the cover and replace the batteries in a flash for continuous use. And when it comes time to charge those batteries, the onboard 20W Type-C charger can fill them up in just two hours. Tactical knives have become an important part of people’s tool kits, whether they’re for cutting through rope, preparing food outdoors, or even carving wooden figures and toys. Many EDC knives try to appeal to common aesthetic tastes, offering designs that look suave and sometimes even luxurious rather than the rugged style that usually comes to mind. While there’s definitely nothing wrong with a variety of designs, there are times when you want a knife that doesn’t try to hide its sharpness, strength, and tactical versatility. That’s the kind of experience that the new Tekto A7 Zastava brings to the table, an automatic out-the-front switchblade that delivers performance, reliability, and handsome good looks that proudly display its battle-hardened heritage.

Outdoor ruggedness has a negative connotation of looking rough, unpolished, and unappealing. The Tekto A7 Zastava clearly lays those doubts to rest with a design that evokes a sense of sophistication without hiding its robust nature. It takes its cue from the design of the iconic Zastava M70 rifle, particularly in the wood inlays that grace its sides. Each inlay varies in grain and actual color, which makes each A7 Zastava OTF knife a one-of-a-kind item. The wood material also beautifully contrasts with the dark black handle and blade, giving it a premium appearance that will make it the star of your EDC collection.

Made from premium S35VN steel, the blade offers two versatile configurations—double-edged dagger and spear point—delivering superior strength and precision.

Of course, this tactical knife isn’t made just to be displayed, and its blade is ready to prove its mettle, whatever the task it faces. Made from high-performance S35VN steel, the 3.6-inch titanium-coated blade isn’t just sharp and tough but also offers excellent wear and corrosion resistance. Available in spear and double-edged dagger point configurations, the A7 Zastava OTF knife offers the versatility you need to meet the challenges of any outdoor task or mission.

Despite its powerful disposition, the A7 Zastava is designed to be easy to use and, most importantly, safe and secure. Jimping points on the handle offer a secure grip, and the contoured button delivers not only a smooth and reliable operation but also a satisfying feeling with every deployment. A reversible clip secures the knife in your pocket or bag and accommodates both left-handed and right-handed users. Last but not least, a tungsten glass breaker is integrated into the handle, making emergencies less stressful. With this variety of features, you get not just a tool but a dependable partner that’s ready to cut through tasks and challenges wherever you go.

With an exceptional blade and handsome looks, the Tetko A7 Zastava OTF knife elevates tactical knives from just cutting tools into works of high-quality craftsmanship. From the strategically placed jimping to the wood inlays to the reversible clip, Tekto’s meticulous attention to detail and partnership with Zastava Arms has given birth to an automatic tactical knife that exudes a character that is both rough yet elegant at the same time. Whether you’re camping outdoors, crafting a project, or responding to a crisis, the Tekto A7 Zastava OTF knife delivers the performance that you need in a stylish yet powerful design that will appeal to pros and enthusiasts alike.

This hand-forged Damascus Stainless Steel Knife boasts a spectacular mirror-finish marbled blade

With each knife having a pattern that is unique to it, almost like its own fingerprint, the Greno puts the beauty of hand-forged VG-10 Stainless Damascus steel in your grip, giving you a knife that’s equal parts magnificent and masterful.

They say that the true process of making Damascus steel was lost to history, although the art has certainly flourished again, with a lot of forgers building their own techniques of making the gorgeously marbled metal. One such creator is Shaggs LLC, the designer and builder behind the Greno – a hand-forged fixed-blade knife with perhaps one of the most unique-looking marbled steel blades we’ve seen. While most Damascus steel blades rely on a dual-color design that highlights the marbling, the Greno is different. It employs VG-10 steel – a premium cutlery-grade stainless steel produced in Japan, which results in a marbling quite like no other. Add that to a 4.5-inch blade with a 4.3-inch handle and you’re left with a knife that doesn’t disappoint. When not in use, the Greno is an art piece, a visual representation of a one-dead handicraft… and when in motion, it’s a knife designed to dominate and get the job done every single time.

Designer: Shaggs LLC

Click Here to Buy Now: $69 $100 ($31 off). Hurry, only 23/70 left!

Measuring a staggering 9 inches from tip to end, the Greno is fairly larger than any of the flippers or folders we feature here. It comes with a fixed blade design too, and ships with a Top Grain Italian cow leather sheath to help you carry it around wherever you go. The knife’s handle comes crafted from green Micarta, used extensively in the knifemaking industry for its durability, balanced weight, and the unique texture it provides to the handle, giving it a superior grip. To supplement this, the Greno’s handle boasts an ergonomic grippy design that’s innately ambidextrous, allowing you to grab it confidently as you maneuver its crown jewel – that spectacular blade.

A self-taught knifemaker, Shaggs managed to master the art of forging Damascus steel, although their experiments with the Greno are different from any other Damascus steel you’d find on the market. To state things plainly, a lot of the Damascus steel you see today is simply a laser-etched marbling pattern on regular steel. True Damascus steel is created by folding and forging two different kinds of steel together, before acid-etching the blade to reveal a zebra-like pattern. Greno’s take on Damascus steel is similar, but the results are stunningly different. The blade shimmers with a chrome-like finish, but instead of being dual-colored, comes with contour lines, almost like the knife has its own fingerprint.

The blade itself has a drop-point design, a very popular template in the knife world. With a long 4.5-inch edge that culminates in a sharp tip, the Greno is perfect for pretty much any indoor or outdoor tasks. Whittling wood, slicing paracord, cutting meat or veggies, and self-defence, the Greno’s blade holds up remarkably well to any form of abuse. The VG-10 steel is inherently corrosion-resistant and has remarkable edge retention, which means spending more time using the knife and less time sharpening it. The rest of the blade travels through the handle, or what the industry calls a ‘full tang’ format. This effectively boosts the knife’s overall durability and allows you to lean into the Greno while using it. The full tang design means being able to apply forward and downward pressure with ease, along with also being able to twist your knife while using it to do things like open metal cans or gut your hunt.

When all’s said and done, the knife slides right into its cowhide sheath, which encases the blade so it doesn’t accidentally hurt anyone. Owing to its large size, the Greno definitely doesn’t come with a pocket clip, but it does boast a lanyard hole at the end of the handle, allowing you to loop a paracord or lanyard through the knife to make it easy to carry around with you on outdoor trips, whether it’s camping, hunting, or even showing off to your EDC-enthusiast friends!

This Tiny Titanium Screwdriver with 8 Interchangeable Bits is Compact Enough to Fit on your Keychain

A little larger than your average AA battery, the Otacle D1 is a toolkit small enough to fit on your keychain. Made from a titanium outer body, the Otacle D1 opens up to reveal not one but four double-sided hex bits that fit into the handle-shaped cylindrical outer body. Dock a bit in either at the front for a regular driving experience, or at the back for a high-torque screwdriver and the world is literally your oyster. You can assemble, disassemble, repair, or even tinker with objects around you without needing to fish out your massive screwdriver kit.

Designer: OKNIFE

Designed by the folks at OKNIFE, the Otacle D1 is all about practicality. It’s compact enough to hang out with your keys on your keychain, but has a flap that opens to reveal a crawl-space for storing 4 double-sided hex bits. The Otacle D1’s body is machined from Titanium, a common material found in the EDC industry these days, which also vastly increases its durability while allowing it to be fairly lightweight at just 1.5 oz (42.5 g).

The entire device measures under 3 inches long, while being broad enough to offer a sturdy grip. The rounded square cross-section enhances the grip too, allowing you to twist and turn with confidence. Just in case the screws you’re working with are on the stiffer side, the Otacle D1 offers high-torque operation too. Instead of mounting the bit on front, you can mount it sideways using a hole at the back (shown above), which allows you to apply more turning pressure to loosen tight screws. It also lets you work in tighter spaces where the screwdriver won’t fit in a linear manner.

The Otacle D1 comes in silver and titanium-blue variants, although there’s also a brass version with the graphic of a crack on it if you want something a little edgy. The D1 comes with 4 S2 steel bits included, tucked away in the magnetic holder inside the D1’s hidden compartment. There’s also a lanyard hole at the back (aside from the bit-mounting hole) for stringing a cord or attaching a keyring, so you can carry your toolkit in your pocket or around your neck!

Pocket Cable EDC is a compact tangle-free charging cable disguised as a Swiss Army Knife

EDC essentials are trending for the right reasons and they can range from pocket knives and multitools to pens and personal care items. USB cables have also become an important everyday carry item that needs to be handy all the time for power-hungry gadgets or transferring big files across multiple devices.

This cool EDC brings both worlds together into a form that’ll be pocketable, utilitarian and essential to have in your arsenal. The Pocket Cable by Native Union wins us over for its clever design that most of us needed but never knew could exist. There are many other charging cable management solutions but this one stands out for its compact design that keeps the function at the forefront.

Designer: Native Union

The Pocket Cable is inspired by pocket knives, and the design proves it all right. The USB-C to USB-C charging cable works pretty similar to the popular EDC, keeping everything well disguised and managed. That’s something that inherently can be a problem with charging cables. At first glance you might mistake it for a Swiss Army Knife enclosure but on the inside resides a 7-inch-long cable for all your tech needs. The 60W power ensures you are covered for transferring big data in a jiffy and fast charging needs. You can juice up your fast-charging Android devices as well as MacBook and iPad without any problem.

Durability is also not ignored here as the highly-resistant cable is crafted from 100 percent recycled PET reinforced braiding, enclosed in a 100 percent TPU closure. There’s another layer of aramid fiber core that gives the Pocket Cable a whopping 30,000-plus bend lifespan. Most charging cables give away at the joints of the connectors, so Native Union has included an O-Flex strain relief layer that’s almost two times more robust than a normal strain relief design.

If you are wondering whether the cable is certified for compatibility with all USB-C devices, then the answer is a loud yes. It has a chip with an E-Marker to regulate power depending on the requirements and limitations of the connected device. For $30 the Pocket Cable is a useful EDC to have handy since it measures just 4 inches when winded up. The only thing that is a bit of a downer is the cable length which could have been longer, but we have to consider how compact this thing actually is.

This $25 Must-Have Car EDC Gadget Could Save Your Life In An Emergency

Seatbelts are designed to not be cut. Glasses on cars are designed to not be broken. That’s all well and great until you find yourself in an emergency where you need to get out of a car and you’re stuck because of a jammed seatbelt or door. Although seatbelts and laminated glass panels are designed effectively to protect you, they can sometimes become the barriers to your safety – which is why it helps to have something like the Lifehammer Smart Automatic on you. A little larger than an AirPods case, the Lifehammer Smart Automatic is an emergency tool that helps you quickly slice through seatbelts and shatter glass windows so you can make an exit in a scenario where every second matters to your safety. Designed to be the essential EDC that every car needs, this $25 gadget could literally be a life-saver.

Designer: Lifehammer Products

The Lifehammer Smart Automatic has a pretty compact, self-explanatory design, which makes it perfect for intuitive use in a split-second emergency. The soap-shaped gadget is easy to grasp firmly in your palm, and comes with a cutout on the side that you hook around your seatbelt. Slide the device over and it slices through the seatbelt’s tough fibers like a knife through butter… while still maintaining a safe design that won’t ever accidentally hurt you.

The top of the Lifehammer Smart Automatic houses its glass-breaker tip. It’s easy to identify the two crucial features simply by looking for the orange accents which highlight the cutter and breaker respectively. The top of the Smart Automatic has a spring-loaded head that you simply press into a glass panel. Eventually, it triggers the glass-breaker tip to eject outwards and shatter any tempered or laminated glass – like the ones found on car windows and windshields. The process requires minimal effort and time, allowing you to quickly break through the glass in case your door gets jammed.

A winner of this year’s iF Design Award, the compact Lifehammer Smart Automatic is a lot smaller than most car-safety gadgets we’ve seen, and comes with its own holder that attaches to any part of your car using 3M adhesive tape. This means you can attach the Smart Automatic beside your seat or the gearbox, or even behind the rearview mirror so it’s easier to access than having to open the glove box and fish around.

Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 is My Everyday Carry I can’t live without

Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 is my go-to everyday carry (EDC). At Yanko Design, we typically think of EDC items as tools like a knife, screwdriver, or flashlight—all rolled into one neat package. However, for those of us who need great audio for music, conference calls, and more, the AirPods Pro 2 are perfect. Their design is sleek and compact, fitting comfortably in the ear with different ear tip sizes to get the right fit. The charging case is genius—small enough to slip into the coin pocket of your jeans, making it super easy to carry around.

Designer: Apple

I gave my AirPods Pro to my 11-year-old, thinking I could get by with other brands of earbuds or headsets. That was a big mistake. Nothing else matched the seamless experience of switching between my iPhone, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air. The AirPods Pro just work, no fuss.

With the new H2 chip, the sound quality is top-notch. Enhanced Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes let you dive into your music or stay aware of your surroundings. The Adaptive Transparency mode even adjusts to loud noises on the fly. Plus, the battery life is impressive—up to six hours with ANC on and up to 30 hours with the charging case. No more constant recharges.

AirPods Pro 2: H2 Chip + custom-built driver and amplifier

The Personalized Spatial Audio feature, with dynamic head tracking, makes listening feel unique to you. The new touch controls on the stems are super handy for adjusting the volume on the go. Thanks to their stealth design, one could even use them as earplugs for sleeping on an airplane. I enjoy doing yard work, so they work amazingly well at blocking out the loud sound of a lawnmower and weed wackers.

I missed my AirPods Pro so much that I took them back, ordered a new pair for my kid, and snagged them at 20% off on Amazon. They’re just that good.

For anyone in the Apple ecosystem, it’s tough to recommend anything else. The seamless integration, amazing sound quality, and smart design make them an essential part of daily life. These little gems combine functionality, style, and tech into one awesome package.

Looking Forward to What’s Next

At WWDC 2024, Apple announced exciting updates for the AirPods lineup, aiming to make them even better for daily use and gaming. One cool new feature is interacting with Siri using head movements. Exclusive to AirPods Pro, you can nod or shake your head to answer or dismiss calls, manage notifications, and interact with messages silently. The H2 chip’s machine learning makes this hands-free experience seamless.

AirPods Pro also got a voice isolation upgrade. This tech reduces background noise during calls, making sure your voice comes through clearly, even in noisy or windy places. Apple introduced a new API for game developers to optimize games for AirPods. This means better dynamic head tracking and reduced audio latency, making the gaming experience on Apple devices more immersive. Latency is way down, making these earbuds great for gaming. AirPods Pro, paired with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, offers Apple’s best wireless audio latency ever for mobile gaming.

With support for 16-bit, 48kHz audio in games, your voice will come through crystal clear to teammates and other players. Perfect for those intense multiplayer sessions. These updates show Apple’s drive to make AirPods even better. The new features and enhancements will be available as a free firmware update this fall, with the developer beta available now for Apple Developer Program members.

Why Choose the AirPods Pro 2 Over the Original AirPods Pro and Regular AirPods?

On this Mobile Monday, we’re focusing on the AirPods Pro 2, and here’s why they stand out compared to the original AirPods Pro and regular AirPods. When it comes to wireless earbuds, Apple’s AirPods lineup offers several options, but the AirPods Pro 2 is the clear choice for several compelling reasons.

First, the AirPods Pro 2 feature the new H2 chip, which significantly enhances audio performance. The sound quality is richer and more immersive, with deeper bass and clearer highs. This is a noticeable improvement over both the original AirPods Pro and the regular AirPods, making your music, podcasts, and calls sound better than ever.

While the original AirPods Pro introduced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), the AirPods Pro 2 took it to the next level. Enhanced ANC means you can block out more ambient noise, allowing for a more focused listening experience. The new Adaptive Transparency mode also dynamically adjusts to sudden loud noises, protecting your ears while still letting you stay aware of your surroundings.

Battery life is crucial for wireless earbuds, and the AirPods Pro 2 delivers. With ANC enabled, they offer up to six hours of listening time, and the charging case extends this to up to 30 hours. This is a significant improvement over the original AirPods Pro and regular AirPods, which means less frequent charging and more time enjoying your audio.

One of the standout features of the AirPods Pro 2 is Personalized Spatial Audio. This technology tailors the audio experience to the unique shape of your ears, providing an immersive, theater-like sound. Combined with dynamic head tracking, it creates a more engaging and personalized listening experience, which is a step up from what the original AirPods Pro and regular AirPods offer.

The AirPods Pro 2 supports Bluetooth 5.3, ensuring a more stable and efficient connection with your devices. The new touch controls on the stems are intuitive and allow you to adjust volume with a simple swipe, making them easier to use on the go compared to the original AirPods Pro and regular AirPods.

The AirPods Pro 2 comes with additional ear tip sizes, ensuring a more customized fit for a wider range of users. This improves both comfort and the effectiveness of noise cancellation. The regular AirPods, with their one-size-fits-all design, can’t match this level of personalized fit.

With updates announced at WWDC 2024, the AirPods Pro 2 is set to receive even more features that enhance usability. From head movement-based Siri interactions to improved voice isolation for clearer calls, these upcoming updates make the AirPods Pro 2 a future-proof investment.

Housed within the front drive wheel, this motor provides the torque performance of a bicycle, allowing the device to climb slopes up to 12 degrees for the Pro model. The use of welded connections instead of screws maximizes coil space, enhancing efficiency and power. Additionally, the newly adopted ultra-super duralumin heat sink improves heat dissipation, maintaining performance during extended use. This combination of advanced motor technology and efficient heat management ensures that the WALKCAR 2 delivers consistently high performance, even under demanding conditions.

User-Friendly Operation and Charging Convenience

Operating the WALKCAR 2 is as intuitive as walking. To accelerate, press the toes of both feet. Deceleration and stopping are achieved by raising one toe slightly. Turning is managed by shifting your weight, allowing precise control and easy maneuverability. This intuitive control scheme ensures that even new users can quickly adapt to the device, making it accessible to a wide range of people, including those who may not have previous experience with personal mobility devices.

Charging the WALKCAR 2 is both quick and convenient. With the included quick charger, the battery reaches 80% capacity in just 30 minutes, making it ideal for short breaks during the day. A full charge takes only 60 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime. This feature mainly benefits urban commuters needing a reliable and ready-to-go mobility solution. The ability to charge quickly and efficiently means that users can rely on the WALKCAR 2 for their daily transportation needs without worrying about long charging times.

Real-World Applications and Daily Commutes

The practical applications of the WALKCAR 2 are vast. For frequent travelers to Japan, like myself, who visit once or twice a month, this device is a game-changer. In a country where walking and public transportation are the norms, the WALKCAR 2 provides a seamless way to cover the distance between subway stations and destinations. On my visits, I often struggle to keep up with my friends, who are more accustomed to extensive walking. The WALKCAR 2 would allow me to maintain their pace effortlessly, ensuring I don’t miss a beat in this bustling metropolis.

Imagine navigating through the narrow streets of Tokyo or reaching a distant café without breaking a sweat. The WALKCAR 2 brings convenience and efficiency to these everyday scenarios. It allows users to explore more remote areas, visit favorite shops, or enjoy parks that are otherwise too far to reach on foot. By extending the practical radius of our daily lives, the WALKCAR 2 enriches our experiences and opens up new possibilities for urban living.

For city dwellers, the WALKCAR 2 could revolutionize daily commutes. Instead of being confined to locations close to subway stations, users can live in more spacious homes further afield, knowing they can easily travel the last mile. This flexibility enhances living conditions and reduces the stress associated with crowded public transportation. The ability to quickly and efficiently cover the distance from home to public transport hubs means that users can enjoy the best of both worlds: a more comfortable living environment and easy access to the city’s amenities.

A Worthwhile Investment

Priced at $999 for the WALKCAR 2 and $1,499 for the Pro version, these devices represent a significant investment. However, the cost is justified considering the advanced technology, build quality, and the convenience they offer. The WALKCAR 2 series is sold out, reflecting its popularity and the high demand for such innovative mobility solutions. Preorders are being accepted for the next production run, allowing eager customers to secure their units. The high demand for these devices highlights their appeal and the value they offer to users seeking a modern and efficient mode of transportation.

The WALKCAR 2 and WALKCAR 2 Pro are more than just gadgets; they are transformative tools that enhance urban mobility. With their compact size, robust performance, and user-friendly operation, they promise to change how we move through cities. For frequent travelers, urban commuters, and anyone looking to expand their mobility options, the WALKCAR 2 series is an invaluable addition to daily life. As we seek ways to navigate our urban landscapes more efficiently, the WALKCAR 2 paves the way for innovation and practicality. Its ability to provide a reliable and convenient mode of transport in various urban settings makes it an essential tool for modern urban living.

Top 10 Smallest Gear And Gadgets to Absolutely Upgrade and Elevate your Life

With time, and with innovation, humanity has the ability to shrink some amazing technologies down to size. See televisions today versus 50 years ago. Or look at storage from the decades gone by and take a look at how much bizarre storage today’s SSDs offer. The way it works is that innovation catches up with intent, allowing humans to make things better, sleeker, and more efficient. What we’ve managed to do today is take a look at 10 products that have benefitted from this fusion of innovation and intent. These ten tiny thingamajigs here (I have a thing for alliterations) aren’t just ‘small for the sake of small’… they’re highly functional too, from being the most compact and powerful espresso maker we’ve seen, to 4K VR headsets the size of swimming goggles. The only thing that isn’t tiny here is this list!

1. Smallest EDC Multitool – KeyMaster Titanium Multitool

A key unlocks a lock… the KeyMaster unlocks life. Named clearly after its tiny, key-shaped design that’s small enough to sit on your keychain, the KeyMaster is a pocket-sized powerhouse. Crafted from ultra-durable Grade 5 titanium, it effortlessly tackles tasks from opening bottles to fixing your bike. Despite its comprehensive functionality, the KeyMaster’s unique design keeps it remarkably lightweight at just 29 grams (1 ounce), ensuring it remains a lifelong companion on your keychain. Despite its ridiculously small size, the KeyMaster packs a whopping 14 tools, including a foldable knife with a removable blade. Why a removable blade, you ask? So that it’s easy to maintain, and it’s TSA friendly!

2. Smallest Espresso Maker – Wacaco Minipresso GR2

An impressive 5 centimeters (2 inches) smaller than the original Minipresso, the Wacaco Minipresso GR2 is a tinier yet mightier espresso maker that gives you strong, fresh coffee on the fly. The new design has an adjustable basket letting you load anywhere between 8 to 12 grams of coffee, with a double-walled container that holds 80ml of water. The way you use the Minipresso remains the same. A hand-powered pump lets you manually create 8 bars of pressure (the perfect amount for espresso), giving you the perfect extraction with zero electricity. The entire device is about as small as a beer can, and comes with its own cup that you can extract your espresso into. No more compromising with instant coffee while traveling – the Wacaco Minipresso GR2 lets you brew fresh coffee anywhere… no questions asked.

3. Smallest Device Charger – MELLO 20W GaN Charger

It looks like a key-fob, but can fast-charge your phone. Sounds magical, doesn’t it? Well, MELLO holds the title of being the world’s tiniest/sleekest charger. Built using GaN technology, the ridiculously small charger outputs 20W of power, giving your phone enough juice to charge faster than your standard 15W charger. The MELLO sports a foldable design, with the pins tucking right into its unique framework. It comes in three plug styles, and you can choose the variant based on the type of socket you’ve got in your own country. What’s more, the MELLO comes with its own lanyard-shaped USB-C charging cable too, so this tiny little thing that can strap to your keychain transforms into a full-fledged charger for your phone or earbuds – adapter, cable, and all!

4. Smallest Bluetooth Speaker – Marshall Willen

Before you come for me, I’d like to explain myself. The idea with this collection of gadgets and gear was to balance size with functionality. A sachet of instant coffee might be smaller than the Wacaco coffee machine we described earlier, but it isn’t superior to fresh-brewed coffee. Similarly, the internet is filled with tiny Bluetooth speakers that provide a pathetic excuse for sound, but they don’t stand up to the Marshall Willen. Measuring just 4 inches tall, this palm-sized speaker has a 10W amp and a passive radiator, giving you sound you wouldn’t believe could come from something so small. 15 hours of playback, IP67 water and dust resistance, and the ability to ‘stack’ or connect multiple Willen speakers together makes this a true portable powerhouse of punchy audio.

5. Smallest Power Bank – Statik Snap-n-Charge (3000mAh)

The Snap-n-Charge from Statik is yet another example of balancing size with ability rather well. It’s a compact, pill-shaped charger that quite literally snaps onto the bottom of your phone using a novel magnetic charging port architecture, giving your phone a 3000mAh battery boost. Sure, most will say that 3000mAh isn’t great by today’s standards, but it’s enough to get you through about a weekend. Most smartphones have batteries maxing out at 4000 or 5000mAh, so the Snap-n-Charge should get you from 20% or battery-saving mode to 100% in no time. The power bank comes with its own snap-on adapter that you plug into your phone, allowing you to attach the power bank using a magnetic fixture sort of like the MagSafe seen on MacBooks back in the day. Quite impressive for a $29 power bank, am I right?

6. Smallest 4K Camera – Insta360 GO 3S

You look at the Insta360 GO 3S and your first reaction is probably “That isn’t so small”. The GO 3S looks like it’s the size of a regular action camera… but what you don’t realize at first is that the camera isn’t the entire device, it’s the small pill-shaped module that sits inside the device. Touted as the world’s smallest 4K action cam, the GO 3S weighs a paltry 35 grams and is tiny enough to fit wherever you want it. A magnetic design lets it snap onto a variety of accessories for a unique PoV, and the larger housing itself gives you the added advantage of a battery boost, along with a flip-out display that lets you see what your camera sees. The camera records in 16:9 landscape and portrait formats, as well as a 1:1 square ratio for the ‘gram. It captures in 4K, has a total recording time of 170 minutes (with the larger camera body), comes with stabilization, and is IPX8 waterproof up to 16 feet. Content creation never looked this compact.

7. Smallest 4K Projector – LG CineBeam Q

You can’t follow a 4K camera with a 1080p projector, now can you? In the spirit of going big or going home, this is the LG CineBeam Q, a portable projector that comes with its own handle that doubles as a kickstand. Debuted at CES 2024 this year, the CineBeam Q is an oddly appealing projector that takes on a Braun-esque design language and an avant-garde functional approach. Once you’ve set the projector up, using the handle to prop it at any angle, the CineBeam Q outputs a 4K projection up to 120 inches diagonally, giving you a bona fide cinema experience wherever you go. 500 ANSI lumens means a bright projection that’s good even in dimly lit settings, and a smart design lets you tap into all kinds of content without needing an extra Chromecast or what have you. At $1,299, it might be a little prohibitively priced for the mid-range consumer, but if design, functionality, and compactness are what matter to you, the LG CineBeam Q makes for a terrific pick.

8. Smallest VR Headset – Bigscreen Beyond

Speaking of prohibitive pricing, it does make sense for some products to get more expensive as they grow more compact. Take the Bigscreen Beyond VR headset – currently the world’s tiniest immersive virtual reality headset. No larger than a pair of swimming goggles, the Beyond may not look like much, but it comes with two 1-inch OLED microdisplays, each at a resolution of 5120×2560, and support for 75Hz and 90 Hz refresh rates. You’ve got 6DoF movement, giving you the most comfortable immersive VR experience in an ergonomic, tiny form factor. I say ergonomic because the Beyond’s eye-guard comes 3D printed to your own face’s measurements, ensuring a perfect fit. The entire device weighs a paltry 127 grams (4.4 ounces), and given its small size, it doesn’t work standalone – so you need to tether it to a device running VR software. The caveat here, is that the Beyond is priced at $999, which enters Quest Pro territory (that offers pass-through, hand-tracking, and runs on a standalone OS)… but like I said, if you want the smallest, most powerful VR headset money can buy, the Bigscreen Beyond is where it’s at.

9. Smallest Gaming Device – Tiny Circuits Thumby

Let’s also indulge the absurd for a second here with the Tiny Circuits Thumby. Quite literally the size of a thumbnail, the Thumby holds the title of the smallest gaming console to be publicly available to consumers. Tiny but mighty, the actually lets you play games on it, even though it’s less than an inch tall and weighs about as much as an individual AirPod. This keychain-sized console boasts a 72×40 monochrome OLED display and 2MB of storage, letting you play 5 pre-loaded games with the option to expand your library via MicroUSB. And yes, it can even run a version of Doom! The Thumby’s tiny frame belies its powerful core. A Raspberry Pi Pico RP2040 processor brings games to life on the crisp 72×40 monochrome OLED display. Navigate worlds and unleash actions with the intuitive 4-way D-pad and 2 buttons. With a surprisingly large 2MB of storage, the Thumby keeps you entertained for hours on its 40mAh battery.

10. Smallest Outdoor Flashlight – MiCoin Rechargeable Flashlight

Roughly the size of an AirTag, the MiCoin is portable, powerful, and durable flashlight that’s designed to sit on your keychain and outshine your smartphone’s pithy torchlight. It comes with a titanium shell that makes it destruction-proof (you could literally run over it with your car and the MiCoin would shrug it off), and houses a 300-lumen light that has a whopping 32-meter range. For comparison, the smartphone flashlight outputs not more than 10 lumens. This means the MiCoin is vastly better at illuminating the world around you than your phone is, making it exceptionally handy in the outdoors, or even indoors. It attaches to your keychain, comes with a USB-C port for charging, has tritium slots that let you find the flashlight in the dark, and boasts a single button that lets you cycle through the MiCoin’s 5 lighting modes – 4 brightness levels, and 1 strobe mode for emergencies. Quite impressive for something that’s literally the size of a coin, no?

Editor’s Choice: Smallest Multitool Scissors – 8-in-1 EDC Scissors

Meet the 8-in-1 Multi-functional Scissors, proving that big things come in small packages. At just 13cm (5.1 inches), these tiny shears fit snugly in your hand, pocket, or bag without the need for any foldable gimmicks. And despite their size, they’re tough enough to slice through food, including meat. But cutting is just the beginning. These scissors are a multitool marvel. One handle opens lids, both handles crush nut shells and grip caps for easy twisting, while the blades moonlight as a bottle opener, can opener, degasser, and even a small knife. That’s eight essential functions in one compact, space-saving tool. Perfect for anyone on the go!

(Bonus) Smallest/Slimmest Mechanical Keyboard – lofree EDGE

I’d be remiss if I left the lofree EDGE out of this curation. Sure, it isn’t the smallest keyboard out there, but the lofree EDGE holds the distinction of being the thinnest mechanical keyboard ever made. Weighing just a pound and measuring a mere 5.4mm at its thinnest point, the EDGE still manages to retain its mechanical keyboard status thanks to a completely re-engineered internal AND external structure. The outside uses a magnesium frame and a carbon-fiber upper plate, along with redesigned keycaps that are slick but still boast ergonomics. On the inside, redefined Kailh mechanical switches provide the oomph of a mechanical keyboard in the form factor of something that looks as sleek as a laptop keyboard. It might seem trivial to the eye, but the amount of engineering gone into building the EDGE feels dizzying. Think about it, a mechanical keyboard that weighs less than half of its competition, and measures about as much as two smartphones at its thickest point… and just more than the new M4 iPad Pro at its thinnest.

DIY Modular Swiss Army Knife lets you choose exactly what tools you want in your Multitool EDC

Multitool meets a la carte dining – say hello to ZEN, an EDC multitool that lets you choose which tools you want to have on you. Unlike a Swiss Knife or any other multitool where you don’t really get to choose which tools get included, ZEN focuses on versatility and customization. It comes with an ’empty’ holder that lets you add the tools of your choice, giving you a Swiss Knife that feels truly DIY. Carry the tools you need, and swap them out at any time if you find yourself wanting a change. You shouldn’t be stuck with a multitool that is only 30% usable because you don’t use or need 70% of the tools included in the design… right?

There’s a distinct appeal to ZEN’s a la carte approach. It gives you the freedom of being able to design your own EDC like you would a desktop. A lot like picking a motherboard, CPU, GPU, and storage based on your choice, ZEN lets you add the tools of your choice to its open framework. The design offers 7 tools to choose from, and you can either add all of them to the ZEN’s holder, or stick to just the basics and keep the tools you find yourself using the most often.

The 7 tools that come with the ZEN cater to a variety of needs and requirements. You’ve got a bottle-opener, a rope cutter (which also works as a flathead screwdriver), a wood/metal file, an awl or pry-tool, a jagged toothed saw, a drop-point knife, and a screwdriver that lets you load hex-bits of your choice into its design. There’s probably never a time when you’re going to need all these tools at once, so you can choose exactly the tools you may end up requiring and carry just them instead of having a bulky heavy EDC on you all the time.

In fact, the creators of ZEN have even more tools in the works that you can buy as add-ons and attach them to your multitool. Available as separate accessories, you’ve got a ruler, comb, diamond file, scalpel blade, scissor, fish hook, bicycle spoke wrench, can opener, or box cutter, with many more tools in the works. Attaching them is as easy as hooking them into the ZEN, where they secure firmly until you need to remove them. You can build your own multitool to serve a precise scenario or series of scenarios – a camping-specific multitool would have a rope-cutter, knife, and bottle opener, while a tinkerer would require the bike spokes, screwdriver, file, and pry tool. The possibilities are as endless as your needs and requirements.

Using the ZEN is just about as simple as a Swiss Knife. The tools fold open when you need them, and slide shut into their holder when they’re done. The tools sit inside the holder in a stacked fashion, and the topmost tool can be opened with a single hand, which means it’s best to have the drop-point knife or the rope-cutter at the top, letting you singlehandedly flip it open like you would any EDC.

The ZEN’s holder or outer shell comes in one standard size that fits multiple tools inside it, but offers 3 different materials to choose from. The most obvious (and budget-friendly) is stainless steel, but right after that is G10 fiber, which most EDC enthusiasts will love for its grippy tactile feel. You can also opt for a titanium holder, which makes your ZEN virtually indestructible, although the tools on the inside are all 440C high-carbon stainless steel.

The ZEN is entirely CNC machined, from the holder down to the tools themselves. The entire multitool measures 3.54 inches in length when closed, and comes with a sturdy yet lightweight design (the weight depends on how many tools you add to your ZEN). Finally, a pocket clip on the side lets you attach your custom multitool to the lining of your pocket for easy access. The ZEN DIY Multitool ships globally and starts at $49 for the stainless steel variant, while the G10 and Titanium versions start at $55 and $69 respectively.

This Stationery Set Of The Future Unlocks Unique Opportunities For Designers And Artists

The advancement of a society is determined by the tools it uses. That’s why we labeled epochs by materials, like the stone age, bronze age, iron age and the industrial age. With how much design and art has evolved over the past few decades, it really doesn’t make much sense using stationery tools from centuries ago. Gone are the days of relying on protractors and set-squares, the folks at Ddiin have designed something new, the Exlicon L is an all-encompassing toolkit that combines clever detailing with new-age requirements. With 3 tools that achieve a variety of unique tasks, the Exlicon L lets you master distances, circles, arcs, parabolic curves, triangles, and the golden ratio – one of nature and visual design’s most prominent templates.

Designer: Ddiin Concept Ltd./ Sofia Lee Pik Shan

Click Here to Buy Now: $26 $36 (27% off). Hurry, only 9/100 left! Raised over $47,000.

Sofia Lee, the visionary behind Ddiin, founded the company in 2019, winning over 30 design awards (like the iF Design Award and IDEA Award) for their unique spin on stationery and their commitment to enhancing the functional aesthetics of design tools. The Exlicon L is perhaps their most extensive toolkit yet, designed to allow web designers, graphic designers, architects, artists, industrial designers, fashion designers, and more to effortlessly create shapes and lines that adhere to the golden ratio—a universally admired aesthetic standard that imbues works with a natural sense of harmony and balance.

The golden ratio is a mathematical concept that describes a perfectly balanced and visually pleasing proportion found in nature and design. It is approximately 1.618, and can be expressed mathematically as follows: φ = (1 + √5) / 2

We are inspired by the golden ratio in nature and architecture.

The toolkit is cleverly engineered to be compact yet comprehensive, accommodating a wide array of design needs. It includes tools like the TG, Triangle, and Circle, each crafted to facilitate the creation of precise geometric shapes, golden spirals, and thick lines, all within the palm of your hand. The precision of these tools addresses a common challenge in freehand drawing—achieving accurate proportions without traditional measuring devices, which can often disrupt the creative flow.

The design of the Circle Tool has a broad spectrum of radius sizes enabling a total of 112 circles to be drawn.

One of the set’s key components, the Circle Tool, addresses a longstanding challenge for artists seeking to master circles and arcs. The tool lets you easily draw as many as 112 circles of different diameters, using pencils, pens, and even thick markers. Three measuring scales built into this tool let you capture distances including metric and imperial linear distances for radii and diameters, or even measure circumferences with a length of up to 18 centimeters. Unlike any existing circle-master, this tool gives you mastery over radial lines too, as well as allows you to quickly make mandalas and other geometric patterns.

Extending the Circle Tool’s functionality is the Golden Ratio Tool Set, comprising the TG Tool and Triangle Tool – each brimming with functionalities designed to streamline the creative process. Imagine incorporating golden spirals, precise angle measurements, and a ruler seamlessly into your workflow – all within a single, portable, and user-friendly toolset.

The TG Tool

Parabolic Curve

The TG Tool is quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Modeled on the shape of a golden spiral, the TG Tool gives you mastery over one of the oldest ratios based on the Fibonacci sequence found in nature. This sequence helps determine proportions and can be found in nature, architecture, art, and practically every phase of life. The golden ratio, roughly equal to 1.618, is a mathematical formula that embodies perfect balance and aesthetic appeal, frequently observed in nature and artistic masterpieces. Traditionally, achieving this ratio with freehand techniques has been a frustrating exercise, often requiring rulers, dividers, and a healthy dose of guesswork. The Exlicon L TG Tool eliminates this frustration. The ingenious tool comes with 3 spirals of 55.7, 51.7 & 47.4 mm radii, allowing you to draw spirals, plot details along the golden curve, make isosceles golden triangles, and even draw parabolic curves with sheer certainty.

The Triangle Tool

Finally, the Triangle Tool enables the creation of a series of golden triangles, which are essential for designs that require rigorous proportionality and aesthetic alignment with the golden ratio. It features various marking groups that guide the user in drawing triangles starting from different base lengths, such as 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 mm. Each marking group is distinctly designed—solid, hollow, and semi-circular—to facilitate easy identification and use, making this tool incredibly user-friendly and efficient for both professional designers and hobbyists aiming for precision in their creative endeavors.

You can either buy the set of three tools together, or choose an individual tool that you’re most likely to use often. Each tool is crafted from high-quality stainless steel, making them robust, sleek, and resistant to damage or corrosion. The Exlicon L starts at $26 for an individual tool of your choice, or you can bag the entire set of $79, with free shipping anywhere in the world.
