Most of us, for all sane reasons, would prefer not to wear a watch to a sauna. Saunas have an unfriendly environment for watches that can experience failure due to expansion from heat and moisture. Casio, however, believes sauna goers would have a better track of the time to spend inside if they had a watch on the wrist; supposedly why sauna-going creators within Casio have developed heat and moisture-resistant watch that you can wear in a sauna.

This special watch – Casio CPP-002 – is intended for use in hot and humid environments, such as in a sauna. It features a body made from resin, said to have low moisture absorptivity, and comes paired with a coiled, expandable wristband that draws design reference from wristbands used with locker keys at gyms and saunas. The watch with the band weighs only 24.5 grams.

The idea of a heat and humidity-resistant watch from Casio is welcome news for many G-Shock takers – including firefighters – who would want this tech to trickle down to their favorite Casio watch lineup. We don’t have a word on whether that is happening anytime soon, but what we know is that Casio is going to launch the watch through a crowdfunding campaign on the Makuake platform in Japan.

Maybe a successful campaign allows the experimental tech to reach through to a heat-resistant and moisture-resistant G-Shock. For now, this 35.4 mm sauna watch wears an analog dial and comes with a 12-minute counter to time sauna sessions. The timer will let you know “sauna, cold bath, and break times at a glance,” the campaign page (expected to go live on December 2) reads.

The Casio CPP-002 arrives in three color variants: Orange, Black and Blue. Blue watch, model no CPP-002-BU, has been designed in collaboration with Sauna Ikitai: A sauna search website. The water resistance rating is 5 ATM (50 meters) and features two pusher buttons to switch modes and reset. It is likely to cost in the ¥10,000 – ¥11,000 ($60 to $70) range, but sadly will only ship to addresses in Japan. There is no mention of global availability at the time of writing: more clarity is expected once the crowdfunding campaign gets underway.

But what if the cables become part of the desk’s aesthetic? What if the power strip or socket box actually gave you a reason to have those charging wires out in the open? That’s the idea behind this socket box design that appeals to gamers, geeks, and gadget lovers by giving their desks a cyberpunk aesthetic. At the same time, it also makes cable management simpler by not having to hide wires and cables in the first place.

It has become en vogue to hide power sockets and charging ports from view, whether disguising themselves as part of the desk or simply placing them behind tables. While that may be an effective way to reduce the visual mess, it also means most of these outlets are harder to reach. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice convenience for aesthetics, especially if the aesthetic you’re aiming for isn’t the kind that adheres to clean and tidy arrangements.

Trozk is a “hardcore” socket box that makes you want to actually have your wires in plain sight by embracing the popular cyberpunk theme. As the name itself implies, this genre’s design language is sometimes messy, unrefined, and even garish. You have tangled cables, neon lights, and geometric shapes in abundance, though still executed in a stylistic and intentional manner.

The socket box concept is aptly big, boxy, and flashy. On the top, you have six universal power outlets arranged in a 2×3 grid that can accommodate almost any plug type. Beside them is a square with small LED indicators and a square LCD display for information such as power input, output, and the like. Off to the side are USB ports for charging mobile devices. The concept incorporates GaN (Gallium Nitride) technology to handle the load of having 10 ports putting out power.

Like any cyberpunk-themed gadget, Trozk has RGB lighting that highlights the top surface of the box as well as the branding in front. Because of its interesting visual, the socket box is clearly designed to be shown off, even when there are cables coming out of it. That makes it easier to plug and remove chargers at will, while also giving your desk or shelf a sci-fi vibe. Of course, you’ll still have to make sure your cables don’t get tangled up, but at least now you’ll have a cyberpunk excuse for the mess.

Et pour l’installer, c’est super simple :

1. Clonez le dépôt GitHub de Perplexica : git clone https://github.com/ItzCrazyKns/Perplexica.git
2. Renommez le fichier sample.config.toml en config.toml et remplissez les champs nécessaires (clé API, etc.)
3. Lancez la commande docker compose up -d
4. Attendez quelques minutes que l’installation se termine
5. Accédez à Perplexica via http://localhost:31337 depuis votre navigateur

Une fois que c’est en place, vous pouvez même utiliser Perplexica comme moteur de recherche par défaut dans votre navigateur. Il suffit d’aller dans les paramètres, d’ajouter un nouveau moteur de recherche avec l’URL http://localhost:31337/?q=%s et le tour est joué !

Après, forcément, c’est encore un jeune projet, donc il y a des petits trucs à peaufiner et les devs planchent notamment sur la finalisation du mode Copilot, l’ajout d’une page de paramètres, de fonctionnalités comme l’historique de recherche, et le support des modèles de langage locaux.

Mais même en l’état, je trouve que ça vaut grave le coup de tester Perplexica, ne serait-ce que pour voir à quoi peut ressembler un moteur de recherche IA à la fois éthique et transparent ^^.
