Pininfarina Unveils Limited Edition Oksýs Chaise Longue: Merging Automotive Design with Luxury Furniture

Par : Sarang Sheth
28 mai 2024 à 19:15

Legendary Italian design house Pininfarina, famed for its historic decades-long collaboration with Ferrari, has unveiled its debut piece of collectible furniture – the Oksýs chaise longue. This unique creation seamlessly blends the company’s automotive design heritage with the functionality of a high-end chaise lounge. The Oksýs is a limited-edition statement piece designed to complement Pininfarina’s recent foray into branded residential projects. The chaise longue embodies the studio’s core design principles, which center on the harmonious marriage of aesthetics and technical innovation.

Designer: Pininfarina

The Oksýs is a striking visual interplay of contrasting elements. The upper section features smooth, ergonomic lines reminiscent of a Pininfarina sports car. This section is crafted for comfort and boasts a reflective finish that invites touch. In stark contrast, the lower portion resembles a rough, crystal-like rock, creating a sense of groundedness.

“Seen from above, Oksýs is smooth and reflects light with no aggressive angles,” explains Marco Becucci, the in-house architect who designed the chaise longue. “This upper part invites the user to touch it, while the lower section offers a textural counterpoint, left coarse and milled to resemble an untouched rock.”

The design and development process for the Oksýs mirrored Pininfarina’s approach to creating high-performance automobiles. The project began with sketches, followed by ergonomic testing, computer-aided modeling, and finally, the creation of physical models using CNC milling to achieve the complex form.

The prototype showcased at Milan Design Week was crafted from polyurethane and finished with a gleaming epoxy resin, creating a captivating metallic effect. Pininfarina envisions future iterations cast entirely in steel or aluminum, further solidifying the connection to its automotive roots. Only three Oksýs chaise longues will be produced, each sold exclusively through the Rossana Orlandi gallery.

IWC’s Ceralume and the Future of Glowing Watch Technology

28 mai 2024 à 17:20

Imagine strapping a stylish mini flashlight to your wrist. That’s the magic of Ceralume, IWC Schaffhausen’s innovative luminous ceramic technology. Developed by the tech experts at IWC’s XPL division, Ceralume combines ceramic powders with high-grade Super-LumiNova pigments. These pigments absorb light and emit it, ensuring your watch glows brightly for over 24 hours in the dark. Whether navigating a dark trail or trying to find your keys at night, your watch has got you covered.

Designer: IWC Schaffhausen

Revolutionary Material and Engineering

Ceralume is a cut above the rest when it comes to ceramics. Traditional ceramics are already lightweight, incredibly hard, and highly resistant to scratches. However, IWC has taken things further by incorporating Super-LumiNova pigments, enhancing durability and luminescence. Achieving a perfect blend of these materials posed a significant challenge. Think about trying to mix the finest flour with sparkly glitter—it’s not easy. IWC’s engineers developed a custom ball milling process to ensure a perfect mix.

Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 with Ceralume Case

Once the mix’s perfected, the ceramic gets heated in a kiln through sintering to turn it into a solid block. This step has to be precise to retain the luminescent properties without compromising the ceramic’s strength. The final stage involved grinding the ceramic to achieve the desired finish, ensuring it was both tough and brilliantly luminous. This meticulous process highlights IWC’s commitment to innovation and quality in watchmaking.

Enhanced Functionality and Aesthetics

Super-LumiNova pigments are incredibly effective. They absorb light from any source—sunlight, indoor lighting, you name it—and then emit it as a bright, blueish glow in the dark. These pigments can keep glowing indefinitely without degrading. As long as your Ceralume watch is exposed to light, it will continue to shine.

Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 with Ceralume Case

The luminous effect adds practicality and enhances the watch’s aesthetic appeal. Your watch will be highly visible and easily read in low-light conditions. Whether you’re at a dimly lit restaurant or on a night hike, the bright blueish glow makes a striking impression. The luminous properties add a unique visual effect that sets these watches apart from traditional ceramics, blending advanced technology with elegant design. It’s a testament to IWC’s innovative approach to combining functionality with style.

Future Implications and Developments

Ceralume represents a significant milestone for IWC Schaffhausen, paving the way for future innovations in luxury watchmaking. This patent-pending technology will be the foundation for new models, allowing IWC to continue its legacy of pioneering advancements in watch materials. The ability to produce fully luminous ceramic watch cases opens up exciting possibilities for design and functionality, providing watch enthusiasts with practical and visually stunning timepieces.

Designed by Paul Crofts, this modular seating system is called Tejo. Crofts designed the Tejo seating collection for the furniture brand Isomi. It is intended to be a “reconfigurable, recyclable, and renewable” modular seating collection that serves as a bench, a single sofa, or even a double back-to-back sofa.

Designer: Paul Crofts for Isomi

The Tejo seat includes curving components that have been filled with natural latex instead of foam. The furniture design is upholstered with natural wool, hemp, or flax instead of synthetic fabrics. It is equipped with a base made from recycled cork which has been salvaged from the production process of wine stoppers. This unique base was created instead of a traditional plywood frame.

“Grown in responsibly managed forests in the Portuguese region of Alentejo – which gives the sofa its name – cork is ideal for use in seating as it is not only soft, tactile, and visually beautiful, but it also regenerates naturally,” said Isomi.

The cork utilized for the Tejo seating solution is sustainably grown, and also a sustainable material option in itself. It ventures into the utilization of cork as a material of choice, while creating a furniture design that has a complementing and soft aesthetic value to it. The Tejo modular furniture design is available in a wide range of colors, and it has been created to work well in different commercial spaces – ranging from retail settings to workplaces and even restaurants.

The Tejo seat can be integrated with different additional elements such as screen dividers, table units, planets, power outlets, and charging ports to create a personalized and customized furniture design. You can add the components that work well for you and your lifestyle, in turn creating a seating system that meets your multiple needs – whether they’re home-oriented or for work. The elegant and refined aesthetics of the seating design allow it to artfully merge with most spaces, giving it a much-appreciated versatility.

Reimagined clay water filter uses white ceramic for a better design (and taste)

Par : Ida Torres
28 mai 2024 à 13:20

Brazil apparently has one of the most effective (and affordable!) water filtration systems in the world. You can find clay water filters in almost every home and markets and they are actually created by local craftsmen. There are some challenges to this though as it is not always aesthetically pleasing and some people say there is a certain aftertaste to the water that goes through this system. There is even sometimes a problem about mold as well. Now a reinterpretation of the clay water filters may have solved some of those issues.

Designer: Estúdio Biologique

A Brazil-based design studio has come up with the Biologique water filter which still uses the same filter system. However, it uses white ceramic so that the water should taste about the same but of course it is filtered. It also doesn’t leave any mold but is also easy to clean, which was also a problem with the traditional filter. The important thing though is that it is able to bring clean, drinking water with the simple filtration system that doesn’t require any complicated installation or instructions.

For those that are concerned with the aesthetics of the water filter, then this is also where Biologique shines. It has a simple, minimalistic design that still keeps the original idea of the clay water filter but brings a more modern feel to it. It has two round parts on top of each other, a wooden stand, and a faucet that looks like those you find in draft beer machines. It comes in different colors: terracotta, rosé, green, brown, off white, black, gray, and capuccino.

The Biologique water filter comes in 9.0L and a petit version in 4.5L so you have two options depending on your space and the drinking water capacity of the people you live with. Of course it is more expensive than the traditional clay water filters that you’ll find in the usual Brazilian households. That’s the price you have to pay to have something prettier and better designed. Estúdio Biologique says their products are done by hand and on a small scale, so that’s also one of the reasons for the price point.

Singing Bottle concept rewards kids when they take their pills

Par : Ida Torres
28 mai 2024 à 10:45

According to my friends who are already parents, one of the most difficult things to get their young kids to do is to drink medicine. Aside from the fact that most of the pills actually taste bad and may be too big for their little throats, it’s also hard to convince them to do something if they don’t really understand why they need to do so. Some actually use rewards just to get the kids to take their meds but there should be better ways to get through this every time they need to do it.

Designer: Fengrui Wang

The Singing Bottle is a concept for a different kind of pill packaging and dispenser for kids ages 6-10 to help them take their meds a bit more easily. It is shaped like those ship in a bottle things that your dad or uncle probably displayed. But instead of a ship, you get personalized pills and a corresponding paper card strip with an NFC tag attached which is the secret to getting the kids to get the pills down. The dispenser also has a built-in speaker in which the cards, which contain music and stories, can be played.

The idea is that parents need to purchase the first pack of 14-21 personalized pills from the pharmacy and the dispenser. Turn the handle to dispense the first pill, separate the card strip and then insert it into the NFC reader. The first card is actually inspiring words to get the kids to take the pill and explain why they need to do so. Every two days, a new strip is unlocked and this can be a story or a piece of music to serve as their “reward” for taking the pill.

This is a pretty interesting way to encourage children to take their much needed medicine. This concept will work with Dozer, a start-up that specializes in 3D medicine printing which is able tp provide personalized medicine which should be less expensive and maybe also makes the taste a bit better, since that’s one of the major reasons why kids don’t want to take their pills.

Credit Card-shaped MagSafe Power Bank gives your iPhone a massive 5000mAh Battery Boost

Par : Sarang Sheth
28 mai 2024 à 01:45

Picture this, it’s summer, you’ve packed your bags and you’re heading on a Eurotrip (maybe for a nice holiday on the Amalfi coast or to see Taylor Swift perform). In true holiday fashion, you intend on spending the entire day out and about, exploring the city, but you realize an hour in that your phone’s already on 15% battery. You might have a charging cable in your pocket, but there isn’t a power socket in sight. Here’s where a MagSafe power bank just makes things much easier. Designed to simply snap onto the back of your phone and give it a battery boost, the TORRAS MiniMag is a compact power bank that’s no larger than a credit card. With its compact size, 0.3 inches thickness, and MagSafe compatibility, the MiniMag merely attaches onto your phone, giving it an extra 5000mAh battery so you can go about your day without worrying about being perpetually on ‘Battery Saver’, or worse, a completely drained battery.

Designer: TORRAS

Click Here to Buy Now: $37.9 $49.99 ($12 off with coupon code “summer527”). Hurry, deal ends in 48 hours!

TORRAS MiniMag Power Bank & Ostand R

Convenience seems to define the MiniMag’s entire design approach. It’s compact enough to slide right into your pocket or laptop bag when not in use, with a form factor no larger than your average payments card. At 0.3-inches or 7.6 millimeters thick, it might not be slim enough to fit into your wallet, but it attaches to your phone without making it too bulky the way other power banks would. It weighs a minimal 4 ounces (113 grams) and has curved edges running throughout that lets you slide your phone into your pocket without the power bank snagging anywhere.

Card-sized Power Bank, Snap and Go!

Long-lasting Battery Life

The TORRAS MiniMag packs a 5000mAh battery, which practically doubles your iPhone’s battery capacity. Wireless MagSafe charging occurs at a standard 7.5W, and if you’re looking to go faster, plug it into your phone using a USB cable to get 18W of wired charging speeds. The MiniMag supports pass-through charging too, allowing you to basically charge the power bank as it wirelessly charges your phone, keeping your iPhone’s own charging port free for accessories or dongles.

Ostand R case: 360 Magnetic Rotatable Stand

The MiniMag comes with a matte anodized aluminum outer body, in either silver or pink. Although designed to be used independently, it pairs exceptionally well with TORRAS’ Ostand R case, which also gives your phone its own dedicated rotating kickstand. The Ostand R is practically a marvel of engineering, with a stand that sits flush against the case when closed, but opens to prop your phone up. It relies on a specially engineered hinge that’s 1.2mm (0.04 inches) thick, but can resist tens of thousands of folds, and can even hold its angle like a laptop hinge (while taking the weight of your phone). The ring even rotates independently to let you place your phone in either landscape or portait, and it does so with super-slim magnets inside that extend your phone’s MagSafe compatibility, whether it’s attaching accessories or mounts, or snapping on a wireless charger or power bank like the TORRAS MiniMag.

Momo lunar habitat is a reconfigurable compact dwelling for future Moon settlements

Par : Gaurav Sood
27 mai 2024 à 23:30

By 2030 we could see a rise in space tourism and most likely the human habitation of the Low Earth Orbit will trigger the shift towards living beyond Earth. Even though realizing the dream of setting foot on the red planet is some decades still to go, living on the lunar surface is not a far-fetched craving.

The challenges in colonizing planets or satellites beyond the Earth’s bounds are immense and taking them one step at a time is the key. One of the challenges is to provide a safe haven for inhabitants in inhospitable conditions. This project dubbed Momo wants to address this with a flatpack and modular option for practicality. Developed by MIT’s Department of Architecture and MIT Media Lab in association with AeroAstro, the self-assembling lunar habitat is among the best ideas so far we’ve come across.

Designer: MIT Media Lab

Keeping in mind the things that could go wrong in alien environments, the Momo habitat is completely replaceable in case there is a breach or malfunction. Rather than replacing the whole habitat, the compromised module can be swapped with a new one. This saves time and ensures the inhabitants have one less thing to worry about. The ultimate goal for developing Momo will be to support the Arthemis III mission and assist in the long-term lunar settlement mission. Oen can realize the extent of the seriousness of this undertaking by the fact that MIT Departments will be headed by the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Jhonson Space Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory and SpaceX.

For the first phase, the compact habitat will have a design that flat-packs inside the Starship HLS cargo space. It’ll be developed keeping in mind at all times about the safety and efficient space utilization. The modular aspect allows for versatile functionality, for instance, realigning the aluminum frame and high-density polyethylene membrane for setting up camp depending on the terrain of the Moon. It can be anything from a safe airlock compartment, windows, work desks, or even exercise areas.

SpaceX Exosuit Concept Helps Astronauts Retain Muscle Mass in Space using Resistance Training

Par : Sarang Sheth
27 mai 2024 à 20:45

You can see up to 20% of muscle loss in just 11 days of being in space. Astronauts have to exercise nearly two and a half hours each and every day to prevent muscular atrophy. Sounds pretty scary, doesn’t it? Exposure to zero gravity causes muscle fibers to shrink, making astronauts much weaker and less coordinated. Whoever thought that the lack of gravity could affect our health THIS much??

Designed to help astronauts stay fit through regular movements, the Cosmofit Exosuit was imagined for astronauts making their way to the moon with SpaceX’s upcoming mission that aims to set up a lunar base to replace the ISS in 2030. Created by Minwoo Lee, a student at Hongik University, the Cosmofit is designed to be worn indoors, and uses resistance-based training to turn simple activities like walking or reaching out for something into a micro-workout. Astronauts therefore exert more to perform basic activities, and can retain their muscle mass while in a zero gravity environment.

Designer: Minwoo Lee

The Cosmofit bodysuit is made of two distinct parts – the suit itself, and the mechanical augmentations that attach onto the back and around your waist, or the ‘exo’ part of the suit. The suit features electrode pads laid out around different muscle groups, providing electrical stimulation to different muscles in the body to keep them active and healthy, while also helping with muscle recovery after stressful workouts. By providing electrical pulses, the suit can help rebuild muscle tissue and help with recuperation.

Meanwhile, the exoskeleton on the outside uses a series of motors to provide mechanical resistance to help you exert more pressure while moving around. This turns regular activities into mini workouts (sort of like jogging or exercising with weights strapped to your ankles) that prevent muscles from atrophying or growing weak.

The EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) suit can be worn for long periods of time, with the exoskeleton only strapped on for certain hours in the day. There’s even a potential for the exoskeleton to track vitals and fitness levels through activity, giving astronauts a comprehensive look at how healthy they are. Two and a half hours of exercise a day sounds like quite a task… turning just daily movements into a fitness regimen sounds like a much easier way to stay healthy in zero gravity, doesn’t it??

tinyPod turns the Apple Watch into a tiny iPod for nostalgia and then some

Par : JC Torres
27 mai 2024 à 10:07

The iPhone might be Apple’s one and only portable music player today, but it’s far from being its most iconic. That prestige belongs to the original iPad (not the Nano nor the Touch) whose design, like any other Apple product, was hailed for its beautiful minimalism and unique interface, a design that many have dared to copy even today. Of course, the iPod is now just a footnote in history, but there are still a few who want to relive those glorious days of the past in a way that makes a bit of sense in the present. That might be the idea behind a mysterious new accessory that seemingly revives the iPod but, rather than create a completely new device, it reuses a strapless Apple Watch instead.

Designer: tinyPod

The OG iPod was genius in its simplicity. It provided quick and easy access to dozens of functions with an innovative “click wheel” physical control that avoided overloading the user with buttons and menus. Of course, these days it’s just as easy to peck at the iPhone screen with your finger, but a smartphone brings along other sorts of complications and distractions that go beyond the simple joys of listening to music. At the same time, a dedicated media player no longer makes sense these days since it would be yet another device to buy and maintain in addition to a phone, a tablet, and a smartwatch.

tinyPod seems to be trying to solve both problems by enclosing the Apple Watch in a case that is almost like a perfect replica of an iPod, except for the fact that it has a colored screen. What makes the case more interesting is that, at least based on a teaser video, you can actually control the Apple Watch using what looks like an authentic click wheel. It’s not yet known how it manages to do this, but this will be an important detail since the Apple Watch’s digital crown is inaccessible in this form, so you’ll need some other way to navigate through watchOS without always touching the screen.

The accessory is advertised to deliver an experience that’s like “your phone away from your phone,” which refers to the “watered-down” version of an iPhone that an Apple Watch offers. You can listen to and control your music without having to pull out your phone, but unlike the iPod, you can do so much more as well, like watching YouTube. In a way, it’s sort of like the middle ground between a “dumb” portable media player and a full-blown smartphone.

What little we know about tinyPod through a simple teaser still leaves many questions unanswered. You can probably keep this in your front pocket or even hang it around your neck, but it loses many of the health-related features that the Apple Watch is famous for in those situations. It’s also unknown how Apple will react to such an obvious copy of its iPod design, which could mean the device will be short-lived. Either way, we just have a month or so to wait for all the details to drop for this Apple Watch-powered iPod throwback.

This Juicer gives you Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice in Less Time than it takes to Brew Coffee

Par : Sarang Sheth
27 mai 2024 à 01:45

Orange juice is great for you. It’s packed with Vitamin C, antioxidants, citric acid, and anti-inflammatory compounds. The problem is that juicing an orange is a little more annoying than it should be. You need to cut the oranges, manually juice each cut half, strain the pulp, and then wash your hands because you got juice all over them. It takes way too long to get one glass of OJ and you end up smelling like oranges in the process. It’s much more convenient to buy a carton of orange juice, and that’s quite a shame… Which is why a Barcelona-based startup Citring designed the Citring One, a citrus juicer that works about as fast as a Keurig or a Nespresso takes to make coffee. Just add the oranges, press a button, and you’ve got yourself a glass of fresh juice. Sounds too good to be true, right?

Designer: Citring

Click Here to Buy Now: $289 $409 (30% off). Hurry, only 42/150 left! Raised over $100,000.

Well, if you think of how Nespresso and Keurig made coffee-brewing as simple as inserting a pod and hitting a button, the Citring One does the same for all citrus-based fruits. About the size of a coffee maker, the Citring One squeezes and juices 3 fruits at a time, eliminating the need for elbow grease, straining pulp, and cleaning yourself up after. Just open the lid and insert up to 3 whole citrus fruits in the silicon container. Shut the lid, place a glass under the dispenser, and hit the button on the Citring One. Once you do, something rather interesting happens. A slicer ascends upwards, guillotining the fruit into two halves, before using compressed air to press into the cut fruit and squeeze its juice out. Juice is dispensed to your glass through the same silicone container, so there is no need to clean any additional parts.

1) Put up to 3 whole oranges in the machine. No need to cut them. 2) In about a minute, your juice will be ready. 3) Citring will automatically squeeze the oranges and pour the juice into your glass.

The entire process is absolutely foolproof because you don’t need to do anything at all. The Citring One cuts and juices your fruit for you, giving you empty hemispheres of squeezed fruit that you can then throw away. The interface has all but one button, so you don’t need to worry about any settings, modes, or a smartphone app that tells you how much Vitamin C intake you’ve had all day. Drinking juice is good for you and the simpler the process the better. Every few uses, the BPA-free food-grade silicone containers inside the Citring One can be removed and rinsed under running water or in your dishwasher. The technology under its hood is impressive, and the overall product even secured an iF Design Award this year for how simple and foolproof it is.

Aside from being a little larger than your citrus juicer or even your blender, the Citring One does sport a $289 price tag which would make anyone reconsider… But think about a few things. You’d pay the same amount for a coffee machine, so why not a juicer? After all, juice is great for you. Secondly, those cartons of juice are filled with more sugar than fruit, and the costs add up when you end up buying a carton every week. Fresh fruit (especially from a farmer’s market) is a lot cheaper, and actually helps you regulate how much added sugar you consume in a day. Moreover, the Citring One works with other citrus fruits too, from lemons and limes to grapefruits, tangerines, mandarins, blood oranges, etc. It’s perfect for people who love consuming fruit, and just personally, makes for a great addition at juice cafes or restaurants/canteens wanting to offer juice that doesn’t get fresher than this. The Citring One comes in 2 colors, an all-black version and a stormtrooper black + white variant, and ships globally.

Click Here to Buy Now: $289 $409 (30% off). Hurry, only 42/150 left! Raised over $100,000.

The Urban Park Max Pushes The Boundaries Of Tiny Home Living, Offering An Apartment-Like Experience

26 mai 2024 à 23:30

Designed by TruForm Tiny, and called the Urban Park Max, this tiny home is really not very tiny. It challenges the notion of a tiny home by featuring a length of 38 feet, playfully teetering on the boundary of a tiny home and a full-sized house. The tiny home seems a bit difficult to tow, but its spaciousness does offer a living experience that is very much apartment-esque but on wheels. It is founded on a quad-axle trailer and has a sense of styling that is both contemporary and elegant – inside and out.

Designer: TruForm Tiny

The Urban Park Max features an exterior dominated by metal, with some cedar accenting. Its noticeable size makes it one of the larger North American models out there, however, it certainly isn’t one of the largest. Tri-fold glass doors lead you to the home, and they also open up to the outdoors. Generous glazing allows natural light to stream into the home, creating a lovely light-filled space. You are welcomed into an open-plan living area equipped with a L-shaped sofa. Near the sofa is a dining table, as well as a kitchen equipped with a washer/dryer, oven with a propane-powered three-burner stove, a sink, fridge/freezer, cabinetry, and some shelving.

The bathroom isn’t extravagant, but it features a vanity sink with cabinetry, a flushing toilet, and a shower. The opposite end of the home houses the master bedroom. The bedroom contains a king-sized bed and loads of storage space. Since it is located on the lower level, there is sufficient space to stand upright and move around, without banging your head to the ceiling.

The tiny home also includes a secondary bedroom intended for guests. It is located on the upper floor, and you can access it via a storage-integrated staircase. This bedroom is a conventional loft-style bedroom as seen in tiny homes, marked by a low ceiling and a double bed. There is a separate section that could work well as a home office, reading nook, or even a storage are. The Urban Park Max’s price starts at around US$187,000.

Adorable Hen-Shaped Olive Oil Dispenser Combines Aesthetic Design with Sustainability and Practicality

Par : Tanvi Joshi
26 mai 2024 à 22:30

It has become quite a thing to have a good balance between design and functionality lately, adhering to this, Soso potentially introduces an innovative gourmet olive oil dispenser that artfully bridges aesthetics, sustainability, and practicality. Inspired by the brand’s iconic egg-shaped salt shaker, the new oil bottle captivates with its whimsical yet refined hen-shaped design, evoking the playful query, “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” This concept breathes life into the vibrant product range, offering a delightful and visually appealing solution for culinary aficionados.

Designer: Bernardo Diaz Lopez for Soso

The design journey began with a clear objective: to create a compact, durable, and reusable container that complements the beloved egg salt shaker. Crafted from high-quality ceramic sourced from local producers in Andalusia and the Spanish Levant, the bottle embodies a deep connection to Spanish heritage through its tactile feel and aesthetic purity. This local sourcing not only ensures premium quality but also reinforces the brand’s commitment to supporting regional craftsmanship.

The gourmet olive oil dispenser features a distinctive integrated opening and closing mechanism. This innovative stopper allows for hermetic sealing and effortless pouring with a simple twist, eliminating the need for removal. When fully twisted off, the cap can be detached for easy refills, featuring a double anti-drip and oil return system to enhance functionality and maintain a clean pour.

Ergonomically designed to provide a comfortable grip, the hen-shaped bottle marries form with function. The multifunctional cap plays several roles—sealing, pouring, and refilling—all seamlessly integrated into the overall design. This attention to ergonomic detail ensures that the dispenser is as practical as it is aesthetically pleasing.

Aimed at consumers who value both aesthetics and sustainability, the design appeals to those who appreciate locally sourced goods and the revival of ceramics as a reusable material. By integrating recycled plastics, the product range highlights its eco-friendly credentials, attracting conscientious buyers who seek both style and sustainability in their purchases.

Batman-inspired Maverick GT Stormy Knight redefines luxury and sustainable maritime adventures

Wayne Enterprises and T3MP3ST have one more reason for Batman fans to go on a spending spree if they like exploring the waters. This is the Maverick GT Stormy Knight electric exploration vehicle developed by the two companies for the filthy rich. That’s because the eco-friendly boat is priced at $250,000. According to makers, “it is a first-of-its-kind, ultra-luxury commerce environment that immerses you in the world of DC’s Bruce Wayne, the billionaire civilian persona of The Batman.”

The limited-edition watercraft is a balanced iteration of luxury and high-end technology for the best experience venturing out in the waters. Only 27 units of this vessel will be created by T3MP3ST who have been redefining nautical adventures with innovative Electric Exploration Vehicles designed for the government agencies and the elite.

Designer: T3MP3ST and Wayne Enterprises

The 4-meter power boat is designed out of carbon fiber and stainless steel to optimize performance without harming the environment. The use of these materials keeps the total weight down to 1,300 pounds. The power comes from a 100 kWh modular battery that’s mated to a 350 hp electric motor. This enables it to reach speeds of more than 85 mph and have a range of 75 miles on a single full charge. That roughly equates to around six hours of runtime. The watercraft is loaded with an autonomous navigation system that has Garmin’s advanced GPS and voice command integration compatible with iOS and Apple Watch.

This EEV comes with high-grade customization to suit the needs of demanding buyers. It is crafted for a four-seat configuration just like a jet-ski, keeping in mind Batman and Robin would hop onto the ride whenever criminals decide to fox the authorities by taking the water route. Plus there’s space for two more to add to the fighting power. If buyers want to have more seating space, the company is also offering a larger version with a 30-foot RIB hull that can ferry 8 passengers. Top speeds on this one are considerably lower at 40 knots but it can cruise for eight hours on a single charge.

Those interested in buying the Maverick GT Stormy Knight luxury boat can head over to the BruceWayneX website for pre-order, or mark their calendars to visit the Wayne Enterprises Experience in New York City from June 3 to 10.

Anbernic RG Cube is a Cute Retro Handheld with Game Boy-inspired Square Screen

Par : Gaurav Sood
26 mai 2024 à 19:15

Liking for retro game-inspired handhelds has surged in the last few years, thus, prompting proactive manufacturers to catch up on the trend. Anbernic is not letting this opportunity go with a variety of gaming handhelds including the RG35XX H, RG353P, RG35XXSP, and the RG556 (very unconventional naming conventions has to be said) already released this year.

Add to that lineup the latest RG Cube which comes loaded with a Unisoc T820 processor, capable enough to play titles from the Nintendo 6 and Dreamcast. According to the company, it doesn’t stop there as the handheld should also play select titles from the PS 2, GameCube, Wii, and Nintendo 3DS in emulation mode.

Designer: Anbernic

The cute Android 13-powered gadget has a 3.95-inch IPS touchscreen (720×720) with a 1:1 display ratio which to be honest should affect the visuals in some of the newer titles. The octa-core processor (maxes at 2.7 GHz speed) mated to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM is supported by an 850MHz GPU capable of producing 1080p resolution visuals at an impressive 120fps. The buck doesn’t stop there as RG Cube has 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage with expandable storage of up to 2TB via a MicroSD card.

For extended gaming hauls, the handheld boasts a battery life of 7 hours courtesy of the 5200mAh battery life. The in-built fan provides active cooling when things get too hot. Most gamers should love this compact gaming player since it has RGB lighting effects, a gyroscope sensor, a vibration motor, D-Pad input, action buttons, shoulder triggers, and Hall Effect joysticks that should last long without any malfunctions. Playing classic games on this one will be a treat with the stereo speakers in-built, USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for purists.

Anbernic has not announced the pricing or release date of the gaming handled yet or the pricing. At launch, the RG Cube will come in three color options: Beige White, Radiant Purple, and Gray.

Unveiling the Popularity of On Cloud Shoes: Why Everyone Loves Them

26 mai 2024 à 17:20

The meteoric rise of On Cloud shoes in the athletic footwear market is attributed to their revolutionary CloudTec technology, offering soft cushioning and energy return combined with lightweight and stylish designs. These shoes provide exceptional versatility across various terrains, making them suitable for road running, trail running, and everyday wear. Strategic partnerships with high-profile athletes and a solid commitment to sustainability through initiatives like the Cyclon program and CleanCloud technology further boost their appeal. My family’s personal experiences with the durability and comfort of On Cloud shoes underscore their exceptional craftsmanship and high-quality materials, solidifying their reputation as a trusted choice for performance and casual use.

Designer: On + Roger Federer

Technology Making Every Step Feel Like a Cloud

CloudTec technology sets On Cloud shoes apart from other running shoes. Imagine stepping on tiny, soft clouds every time you walk or run. That’s the magic of CloudTec! This innovative technology is at the heart of every On Cloud shoe, providing runners and walkers with an outstanding comfort and performance experience.

When you look at On Cloud shoes, you’ll notice the distinctive “cloud” pods on the bottom. These hollow pods act like tiny bubbles. As you walk or run, these pods compress and squish down, making your landing soft and gentle, like stepping on a cushion. This is especially noticeable in models like the On Cloud 5 and the Cloud X, where the pods are designed to absorb impact effectively, reducing the strain on your feet and legs.

Cloud X 3 Training Shoe (Women)

But the magic doesn’t stop there. After the pods compress during your landing, they quickly bounce back to their original shape when you push off with your toes for your next step. This bounce gives you a little extra spring in your step, helping you move forward more quickly. This feature is particularly beneficial in On Cloudflow, a shoe runners favor for its responsive and energetic feel during fast-paced runs.

On CloudFlow

CloudTec’s ability to provide soft landings and bouncy takeoffs makes it unique. Traditional running shoes might feel hard or stiff when you land, but CloudTec ensures that every step is cushioned. At the same time, the bounce helps you propel forward, enhancing your performance without compromising comfort. The Cloudflyer model, designed for stability and support, showcases how CloudTec can adapt to different running needs while offering that cloud-like feel.

This technology enhances both comfort and performance. For example, the Cloudswift features CloudTec combined with Helion super foam, providing a smooth, comfortable ride with excellent energy return. Whether training for a marathon or just enjoying a leisurely walk, the soft landings protect your joints, while the responsive takeoffs boost your performance.

On Helion Superfoam

Lightweight and Minimalist Design Allows For Speed and Agility in Every Step

In addition to their innovative CloudTec technology, On Cloud shoes are renowned for their lightweight and minimalist design. This design philosophy is perfect for modern runners who value speed and agility. On Cloud shoes are built to be incredibly light, using materials that reduce weight without sacrificing support or durability.

For instance, the On Cloud 5 is one of the lightest models in the lineup, making it ideal for everyday wear and casual runs. Its minimalist design means that it lacks the bulky, heavy materials found in traditional running shoes, allowing runners to feel faster and more agile. This lightness doesn’t come at the expense of support, as each shoe is carefully engineered to provide the stability and structure needed for a comfortable run.

On Cloud 5

The aesthetics of On Cloud shoes also play a significant role in their popularity. They come in various stylish colors and sleek designs, appealing to those who want their running shoes to look as good as they feel. The Cloud X, for example, offers a range of vibrant color options that stand out whether you’re running in the park or walking around town. The attention to design detail extends to small features like reflective decals for added visibility and a tiny Swiss flag on the rear of the right shoe, showcasing their Swiss heritage.

Depending on where you live and the local climate, you might prefer the waterproof versions of On Cloud shoes. Models like the Cloudventure Waterproof are designed to keep your feet dry during wet weather runs. While these waterproof versions gain a little weight and sacrifice some breathability, they provide excellent protection against the elements, ensuring your socks and feet stay dry, which can make a big difference in comfort and performance during a rainy run.

The lightweight construction and eye-catching design make On Cloud shoes functional and fashionable. Whether you prefer the bold colors of the Cloudflow or the classic look of the Cloud, there’s a design to match every style. This blend of performance and aesthetics ensures that On Cloud shoes remain a top choice for runners and casual wearers.

Versatility Across All Terrain Lets You Conquer Roads and Trails Alike

Transitioning to the versatility of On Cloud shoes, it’s evident that they are designed to handle a variety of terrains, both on and off the trails. This adaptability is a key factor in their widespread popularity among runners and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you’re pounding the pavement, navigating rocky trails, or enjoying a mix of both, On Cloud shoes have got you covered.

Cloudventure Peak 3

Models like the Cloudventure are specifically engineered for trail running, offering excellent grip and stability on uneven surfaces. The aggressive outsole design ensures that you maintain traction, even on slippery or loose ground. The Cloudventure’s durable construction and protective features make it ideal for tackling rugged terrain, providing confidence and support with every step.

For those who prefer road running, the On Cloudstratus offers a smooth and stable ride on paved surfaces. Its double layer of CloudTec cushioning absorbs impact effectively, making long runs on hard surfaces more comfortable. The Cloudstratus also features a responsive Speedboard that enhances your stride efficiency, making it a favorite for distance runners.

Cloudstratus 3

But the flexibility of On Cloud shoes extends beyond running. The Cloudultra is perfect for those who enjoy a mix of activities, from trail running to hiking to casual wear. Its adaptable design and superior comfort make it a great choice for any outdoor adventure. Whether you’re exploring new trails or simply walking around town, the Cloudultra provides the support and cushioning you need.

Cloudultra 2

This versatility ensures that On Cloud shoes are not confined to a single type of activity or terrain. They are built to transition seamlessly between different environments, making them a reliable choice for outdoor pursuits. With On Cloud shoes, you can confidently tackle any adventure, knowing that your footwear is designed to perform, no matter where your journey takes you.

The Influencer Effect and Celebrity Endorsements: Boosting Popularity

Another significant factor contributing to the popularity of On Cloud shoes is the influence of celebrities and social media endorsements. Strategic partnerships with well-known athletes and influencers have significantly boosted the brand’s visibility and popularity. The involvement of notable tennis players in product development showcases On’s commitment to performance and innovation.

Roger Federer, a co-entrepreneur and investor in On since 2019, plays a significant role beyond mere sponsorship. He collaborates closely with the company’s founders and product development teams, bringing his extensive experience and insights to enhance On’s products and marketing strategies. This partnership began organically when Federer was seen wearing On shoes, leading to a deeper involvement due to shared values and a passion for innovation. One notable outcome of this collaboration is “THE ROGER” series, a tennis-inspired sneaker line that combines Swiss engineering with Federer’s input to deliver high performance and comfort.

On and Roger Federer

Federer’s involvement was a strategic move that paid off significantly. He spent 20 days in the lab with the On team, developing the pro tennis shoe to meet his high standards. This hands-on approach allowed Federer to contribute directly to the design and functionality of the shoes, ensuring they met the demands of professional athletes.

The limited edition Roger Centre Court 0-Series On sneaker

Building on Federer’s influence, On has recently signed world No. 1 Iga Świątek and American rising star Ben Shelton. Świątek, a three-time Grand Slam champion, is the first female tennis player to join On. She will wear On’s tennis shoes and apparel and contribute her ideas to developing new products tailored to athletes’ needs. Świątek’s endorsement aligns with On’s core values and commitment to supporting top-tier athletes.

Ben Shelton, known for his athleticism and power, also joins On as the brand’s first male tennis player. His early success, including reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and winning the Japan Open, underscores his potential. Shelton’s partnership with On allows him to grow with a company making significant strides in the tennis world.

These endorsements highlight On’s strategy to integrate athlete feedback into their product development, ensuring their offerings meet the highest performance and innovation standards. This approach enhances On’s reputation in the sports industry and helps them create products that resonate with both professional athletes and everyday users.

Commitment to Sustainability

On Cloud’s commitment to sustainability is a core aspect of its brand identity, driving innovation in product design and corporate practices. The company has implemented several groundbreaking initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint and promote a circular economy.

One of the flagship sustainability projects is the Cyclon program, which exemplifies On’s dedication to circularity. This program offers high-performance gear designed to be fully recyclable. A prime example is the Cloudneo shoe, which is made from over 50% castor beans. Instead of purchasing the shoe outright, customers subscribe to it. When the shoes are worn out, they return them to On, where the materials are recycled into new products. This model reduces waste and ensures that materials are continually reused, aligning with the principles of a circular economy. The Cyclon-T, a performance tee made with over 90% bio-based materials, is another product in this line, showcasing On’s commitment to renewable resources.

In addition to the Cyclon program, On has developed CleanCloud technology, which transforms carbon emissions into high-performance materials. The Cloudprime shoe is a notable product from this initiative, featuring an EVA foam sole made with 51% CO2. This innovative approach captures carbon emissions, converts them into ethanol, and transforms them into various materials used in footwear and apparel. This process helps reduce atmospheric CO2 and sets a new standard for sustainable material production in the industry.

On Running also focuses on sustainable production practices across its entire product line. The company is working towards eliminating petrol-based materials and replacing them with fossil-free alternatives. The CleanCloud fabric in their Pace collection incorporates 20% recycled carbon emissions, demonstrating how On integrates sustainability into its apparel line.

Moreover, On has launched re-commerce platforms like Onward to extend the lifecycle of its products. This initiative allows customers to return used gear, which is then refurbished and resold, reducing waste and promoting a culture of reuse. On’s commitment to sustainability is further evidenced by its ongoing efforts to improve the production processes of its core technologies, such as the Speedboard, to minimize waste and emissions.

On Speedboard

By integrating sustainable practices into every aspect of their business, from material selection to production and end-of-life recycling, On Running addresses the environmental impact of their products and leads the industry in eco-friendly innovation. This holistic approach ensures that On’s products meet the highest performance standards while supporting a more sustainable future for the planet.

Exceptional Craftsmanship and Quality Materials

On’s dedication to exceptional craftsmanship and the use of high-quality materials sets it apart in the athletic footwear industry. This commitment is evident in its advanced technologies, sustainable practices, and user experiences, which speak volumes about the brand’s reliability and performance.

From my own experience, On Cloud shoes have consistently delivered on their promise of comfort and durability. I own a pair of On Cloud 5 Waterproof shoes, which have served me well in various weather conditions. Initially, these shoes provided excellent waterproofing and support during my runs, keeping my feet dry and comfortable even in wet conditions. Over time, as they transitioned from my go-to running shoes to my yard shoes, their durability continued to impress me, showcasing the long-lasting quality of On’s materials and construction.

My wife shares a similar appreciation for On Cloud shoes. She primarily wears the Cloud 5 model for her daily activities and workouts. The lightweight design and superior cushioning of the CloudTec technology make them her preferred choice for short runs and long walks. The breathability and comfort provided by these shoes have enhanced her overall experience, making them an indispensable part of her active lifestyle.

Our 13-year-old daughter is also a fan of On Running. She owns a pair of On Cloud 5 All Terrain and proper tennis shoes, perfect for her adventurous spirit. Whether she’s running on trails or competing in tennis matches, these shoes provide the necessary grip and stability to keep her safe and comfortable. The stylish design also appeals to her, making them a hit among her friends and peers.

Between the three of us, we own seven pairs of On Running shoes, each serving a unique purpose yet all sharing the same high quality and performance standards. The variety in On’s lineup—from specialized tennis shoes to versatile all-terrain options—ensures that every family member can find a model that fits their needs.

On Cloud’s exceptional craftsmanship and use of high-quality materials are reflected in the positive experiences my family and I have had with their products. From the durability of the Cloud 5 Waterproof shoes to the comfort of the Cloud 5 and the versatility of the All Terrain model, On Running has proven to be a reliable and preferred brand in our household.

Krug Expedition Bedrock XT2 off-road camper is ultimate partner for overlanding journeys in the US

Of course, when the best in the business come together the result is absolutely impressive. Add to that specifications and ideas cooked for a defined regional dominance and it is bound to have some waves riding its way. Case in point the new Bedrock XT2. It is made especially for the US and comes out as an impressive and luxurious truck home for the overland expeditions you will plan later in the year.

Coming back to the story lede, the Bedrock XT2 is the result of an amalgamation between two stalwarts – Krug Expedition and Artic Trucks – of their own device. The former, an Austrian business, brings decades of experience in building expedition-level trucks while the latter adds a spice of polar transportation to it, giving us an off-road camper that’s robust, comfortable, and spacious; name it and your wish will be granted.

Designer: KRUG Expedition and Artic Trucks

Designed to sit on the bed of the amazing AT44 XT2 Ford F-550, the Krug Expedition Bedrock XT2 off-road camper is positioned on a next-level suspension and chassis that’s made for reliability. To put that into perspective, the Artic Truck’s massive custom ride comes with a three-axle, 6×4 off-road drivetrain and eight-link air suspension so you are never left stranded in the middle of nowhere with a vehicle breakdown.

This home on the road meant to ride you back home without hesitation, sits on an 8.4m long base, and makes things really intriguing with the option of its removable living module. On the inside of this hard-shell, reinforced sandwich panels exterior of the gooseneck-like camper lies a space you can associate with road luxury. The insulated living area is dressed with a king-size bed, dining/sitting area that converts into an additional sleeping nook, a full-fledged bathroom with shower and water storage, and a high-octane L-shaped kitchen for cooks with a Nespresso coffee maker for a bean pod-like me.

On board the off-road camper is a 23kW hour battery, which draws power from the 1450W rooftop solar panel, and can power the pickup camper’s power requirement when the HVAC system stops/or is not running on diesel.  Besides the entertainment needs in-house are taken care of by a smart TV, connected to the Starlink internet, in the living section. As an add-on, the company can provide the Bedrock XT2 with a pullout outdoor kitchen, options for wood veneer finish, and leather upholstery for seating indoors.
