He wanted to outfit and empower the vehicle to travel on off-road trails and snowy roads without any hassles or problems.

However, sadly, the experiment did fail since metal isn’t the best alternative, and the springs were welded to the tires. In the month of July, we’ve seen an incredible and exciting downpour at automotive designs Yanko Design. Each vehicle was innovative, bringing to us something we had never seen or experienced before. From killer speed to dashing good looks, to impenetrable safety standards, every automotive we featured at YD broke some design barrier for us, and hopefully, they did the same for you as well. 1. Garage 54’s SUV With Springs

YouTuber Garage54 built an intriguing automotive design that conducted an interesting experiment. He outfitted the car with wheels of springs, instead of the typical rubber treads. His intention was that the car would travel on off-road trails and snowy roads without any issues. The experiment did fail, since metal isnt an excellent alternative, and the springs were welded to the tires. However, the experiment was an incredible starting point for an innovative theory.

2. Platypus Craft Prototype

Designed by François-Alexandre Bertrand, the Platypus Craft prototype is a semi-submersible vessel for safe and feasible underwater exploration. The zero-emission craft draws inspiration from the amphibious Playptus mammal, and from the naming convention, it is quite evident, that they are trying to break the notion that water adventure activities and environmental responsibility are difficult to co-exist.

3. Volkswagen ID. GTI.

The Volkswagen GTI is now moving into the electric age with the new ID. GTI. This serves as a major change for Volkswagen, and it merges GTI’s legacy with electric power. It functions as a fresh take on a classic favorite, merging the wonderful spirit of the original GTI with its latest electric technology. There are a couple of refreshing key design elements, which showcased the model’s transformation into a modern electric vehicle.

4. Baxley Moto

Dubbed the Baxley Moto, this futuristic electric motorbike is designed by Shane Baxley, and it features a menacing street-legal aesthetic, accentuated by spokeless wheels. The bike has a hunched-forward riding position, as well as a suspended tail section, protruding slides, and treaded wires, forming a jaw-dropping ride for adventure seekers who enjoy challenging rides on dirt trails. It also has a balance to it and doesn’t feature an edgy or contoured look.

5. Owlet ONE

Called the Owlet ONE, this bike is designed to be an effortless blend of minimalism and functionality. It offers a modern yet nostalgic riding experience and is made from high-quality, matte-finished aluminum. Gocycle has taken their electric bikes to a whole another level with their lightweight Gocycle CXI Family Cargo Bicycle. The bicycle is lightweight and portable, and an excellent option for those who don’t prefer cumbersome cargo bikes. The CXi lineup includes two e-bikes – the CXi and CX+. They’re both more or less the same, except that the last one has a FloFit Handlebar.

7. CE 02 eParkourer Ride

The BMW Motorrad Austria has combined forces with the design studio VAGABUND to build a custom CE 02 eParkourer ride. It is an electric bike with an appealing futuristic vibe and a pretty alluring retro flair that is great for the Gen-Z and the millennials as well. Unlike the typical electric scooters, this ride offers a sneak peek of where two-wheelers’ future could be moving. It features an integrated BT speaker, a hidden umbrella, and a strapped skateboard grip tape.

8. Honda HP-X Concept

The Honda HP-X Concept was unveiled five decades ago and is now debuting again at the North American Auto Show. It is a mid-engine supercar and features a sharp wedge profile. It will be showcased at the Pebble Beach event and will feature a jet-engine-inspired cockpit, and a Knight Rider-like advanced tech. It is restored by the two brands and will compete with other models for the“Wedge-Shaped Concept Cars and Prototypes” class at the 73rd Annual event on August 18, 2024.

9. Ducati Panigale V4

Named the Ducati Panigale V4, the all-new bike features a sharp design and a performance edge that nears perfection. It is a seventh-generation evolution and is equipped with a 916-inspired headlight, and integrated winglets that signify the MotoGP heritage. The redesigned bodywork features a lighter double-sided swingarm which replaces the signature single-sided unit, leading to a weight reduction.

The creation is much like the on-screen Batmobile, and it is based in a dark and gloomy world, with a sinister environment. The Batmobile has a matte black color, with toughened wheel rims, and a reinforced bumper build for the kill.

4. LEGO Bentley Blower

The Bentley Blower is one of the icons of pre-war racing elegance and power, and LEGO is paying tribute to its 100th anniversary and infamous design. The LEGO Ideas Bentley Blower is designed by LEGO builder ‘N.ik.Le.go.’, and it perfectly captures the old-world charm of its powerful predecessor in a scaled-down and compact form. This LEGO MOC is made using 707 bricks, and is pretty uncomplicated compared to the other LEGO builds.

With time, and with innovation, humanity has the ability to shrink some amazing technologies down to size. See televisions today versus 50 years ago. Or look at storage from the decades gone by and take a look at how much bizarre storage today’s SSDs offer. The way it works is that innovation catches up with intent, allowing humans to make things better, sleeker, and more efficient. What we’ve managed to do today is take a look at 10 products that have benefitted from this fusion of innovation and intent. These ten tiny thingamajigs here (I have a thing for alliterations) aren’t just ‘small for the sake of small’… they’re highly functional too, from being the most compact and powerful espresso maker we’ve seen, to 4K VR headsets the size of swimming goggles. The only thing that isn’t tiny here is this list!

4. Smallest Bluetooth Speaker – Marshall Willen

Before you come for me, I’d like to explain myself. The idea with this collection of gadgets and gear was to balance size with functionality. A sachet of instant coffee might be smaller than the Wacaco coffee machine we described earlier, but it isn’t superior to fresh-brewed coffee. Similarly, the internet is filled with tiny Bluetooth speakers that provide a pathetic excuse for sound, but they don’t stand up to the Marshall Willen. Measuring just 4 inches tall, this palm-sized speaker has a 10W amp and a passive radiator, giving you sound you wouldn’t believe could come from something so small. 15 hours of playback, IP67 water and dust resistance, and the ability to ‘stack’ or connect multiple Willen speakers together makes this a true portable powerhouse of punchy audio.

5. Smallest Power Bank – Statik Snap-n-Charge (3000mAh)

The Snap-n-Charge from Statik is yet another example of balancing size with ability rather well. It’s a compact, pill-shaped charger that quite literally snaps onto the bottom of your phone using a novel magnetic charging port architecture, giving your phone a 3000mAh battery boost. Sure, most will say that 3000mAh isn’t great by today’s standards, but it’s enough to get you through about a weekend. Most smartphones have batteries maxing out at 4000 or 5000mAh, so the Snap-n-Charge should get you from 20% or battery-saving mode to 100% in no time. The power bank comes with its own snap-on adapter that you plug into your phone, allowing you to attach the power bank using a magnetic fixture sort of like the MagSafe seen on MacBooks back in the day. Quite impressive for a $29 power bank, am I right?

6. Smallest 4K Camera – Insta360 GO 3S

You look at the Insta360 GO 3S and your first reaction is probably “That isn’t so small”. The GO 3S looks like it’s the size of a regular action camera… but what you don’t realize at first is that the camera isn’t the entire device, it’s the small pill-shaped module that sits inside the device. Touted as the world’s smallest 4K action cam, the GO 3S weighs a paltry 35 grams and is tiny enough to fit wherever you want it. A magnetic design lets it snap onto a variety of accessories for a unique PoV, and the larger housing itself gives you the added advantage of a battery boost, along with a flip-out display that lets you see what your camera sees. The camera records in 16:9 landscape and portrait formats, as well as a 1:1 square ratio for the ‘gram. It captures in 4K, has a total recording time of 170 minutes (with the larger camera body), comes with stabilization, and is IPX8 waterproof up to 16 feet. Content creation never looked this compact.

7. Smallest 4K Projector – LG CineBeam Q

You can’t follow a 4K camera with a 1080p projector, now can you? In the spirit of going big or going home, this is the LG CineBeam Q, a portable projector that comes with its own handle that doubles as a kickstand. Debuted at CES 2024 this year, the CineBeam Q is an oddly appealing projector that takes on a Braun-esque design language and an avant-garde functional approach. Once you’ve set the projector up, using the handle to prop it at any angle, the CineBeam Q outputs a 4K projection up to 120 inches diagonally, giving you a bona fide cinema experience wherever you go. 500 ANSI lumens means a bright projection that’s good even in dimly lit settings, and a smart design lets you tap into all kinds of content without needing an extra Chromecast or what have you. At $1,299, it might be a little prohibitively priced for the mid-range consumer, but if design, functionality, and compactness are what matter to you, the LG CineBeam Q makes for a terrific pick.

8. Smallest VR Headset – Bigscreen Beyond

Speaking of prohibitive pricing, it does make sense for some products to get more expensive as they grow more compact. Take the Bigscreen Beyond VR headset – currently the world’s tiniest immersive virtual reality headset. No larger than a pair of swimming goggles, the Beyond may not look like much, but it comes with two 1-inch OLED microdisplays, each at a resolution of 5120×2560, and support for 75Hz and 90 Hz refresh rates. You’ve got 6DoF movement, giving you the most comfortable immersive VR experience in an ergonomic, tiny form factor. I say ergonomic because the Beyond’s eye-guard comes 3D printed to your own face’s measurements, ensuring a perfect fit. The entire device weighs a paltry 127 grams (4.4 ounces), and given its small size, it doesn’t work standalone – so you need to tether it to a device running VR software. The caveat here, is that the Beyond is priced at $999, which enters Quest Pro territory (that offers pass-through, hand-tracking, and runs on a standalone OS)… but like I said, if you want the smallest, most powerful VR headset money can buy, the Bigscreen Beyond is where it’s at.

9. Smallest Gaming Device – Tiny Circuits Thumby

Let’s also indulge the absurd for a second here with the Tiny Circuits Thumby. Quite literally the size of a thumbnail, the Thumby holds the title of the smallest gaming console to be publicly available to consumers. Tiny but mighty, the actually lets you play games on it, even though it’s less than an inch tall and weighs about as much as an individual AirPod. This keychain-sized console boasts a 72×40 monochrome OLED display and 2MB of storage, letting you play 5 pre-loaded games with the option to expand your library via MicroUSB. And yes, it can even run a version of Doom! The Thumby’s tiny frame belies its powerful core. A Raspberry Pi Pico RP2040 processor brings games to life on the crisp 72×40 monochrome OLED display. Navigate worlds and unleash actions with the intuitive 4-way D-pad and 2 buttons. With a surprisingly large 2MB of storage, the Thumby keeps you entertained for hours on its 40mAh battery.

10. Smallest Outdoor Flashlight – MiCoin Rechargeable Flashlight

Roughly the size of an AirTag, the MiCoin is portable, powerful, and durable flashlight that’s designed to sit on your keychain and outshine your smartphone’s pithy torchlight. It comes with a titanium shell that makes it destruction-proof (you could literally run over it with your car and the MiCoin would shrug it off), and houses a 300-lumen light that has a whopping 32-meter range. For comparison, the smartphone flashlight outputs not more than 10 lumens. Weighing just a pound and measuring a mere 5.4mm at its thinnest point, the EDGE still manages to retain its mechanical keyboard status thanks to a completely re-engineered internal AND external structure. The outside uses a magnesium frame and a carbon-fiber upper plate, along with redesigned keycaps that are slick but still boast ergonomics. On the inside, redefined Kailh mechanical switches provide the oomph of a mechanical keyboard in the form factor of something that looks as sleek as a laptop keyboard. It might seem trivial to the eye, but the amount of engineering gone into building the EDGE feels dizzying. The location was chosen as this allows the screen to be visible without the need to twist your wrist.

4. Pod Case

Designed by Joyce Kang and C.O Design Lab, this is the Pod Case that gives your Apple Watch a nostalgic touch. It introduces the watch to its ancestor which kickstarted the apple craze. The watch’s screen almost matches the screen size of the classic iPod Nanos, while its body is just a little thicker. The Pod Case is built from silicone, and it smoothly slides over the Apple Watch’s body, providing it with a refreshing yet nostalgic throwback.

Look at this adorable little tea trap by OTOTO! OTOTO’s Tea Trap puts a whimsical and amusing twist on the art of tea brewing. It’s a refreshing change from the typical metal infusers, and instead, it resembles a carnivorous plant – one that eats tea leaves for breakfast!

Why is it noteworthy?

You fill the Tea Trap’s stomach or mouth with leaves and dunk it in a cup of hot water. The tea infuses through the perforations on the infuser. The Tea Trap also includes an elongated handle which you can use to stir until your tea achieves the perfect color. Once you’re done preparing your tea, the trap spits out the leaves into the bin.

What we like

• Adds a fun twist to an ordinary design
• Adorable aesthetics that add some spark to your kithcen

What we dislike

• The holes in the trap seem to be too big for loose tea, it can easily slip out

6. DADO

Called DADO, this minimalist capsule tea machine is a unique conceptual design that looks unlike a typical tea maker. It has a modern twist to it. The kettle portion is inspired by a traditional tea maker, and the entire design has a minimalist ethos which brings a sense of calm to your tea-preparing experience.

Why is it noteworthy?

DADO features a kettle and two cups placed on top of a heating pad, which resembles an induction stovetop. You can fill water in the kettle using the bucket section located at the back. You can preheat the cups that are next to the kettle by simply pressing a button.

What we like

• Perfectly merges traditional and minimal aesthetics
• It has different flavors for the tea capsules

What we dislike

• Disposable capsules with a substantial carbon footprint

7. Bota

Meet Bota – an all-in-one smart tea bottle that lets you brew a cup of hot tea, letting you enjoy your favorite flavors. It has everything you could need to make tea in a single bottle. It holds and boils your water for you at the specific temperature needed for brewing. It also includes a steeping chamber to hold the leaves separately.

Why is it noteworthy?

Why is it noteworthy?

ECLIPSE completely modernizes the tea-making process. It offers the same steps you’d see in a regular tea brewing process but in a new format and form. It is a multi-part travel press that features a measuring cup, brewing teapot, plunger, and a drinking vessel.

What we like

• Features an easy-to-carry and portable design
• Equipped with a ceramic coating to pay tribute to the traditional tea-brewing practices

What we dislike

• There aren’t different color or size options to choose from

9. USM-Inspired Kettle

If you’re someone who loves the work of the Swiss modular furniture brand USM, then you need to check out this USM-inspired kettle. This kettle uses the original aesthetics of the brand, creating a kettle that is circular in design, while the handle is rectangular. The spout has a unique triangle shape.

Why is it noteworthy?

The renders of the kettle display it in various colors, which are also the basic colors of the USM Haller line. There are kettles available in blue, orange, red, yellow, and white, creating a kitchen appliance that is fun, and whimsical while also being wholly functional.

What we like

• Minimal and clean aesthetics
• Available in various USM-inspired colors

What we dislike

• It’s still a concept, so we don’t know how well it will translate into a tangible product

10. TEO Smart Tea Maker

Dubbed the TEO Smart Tea Maker, this sleek and unique design has a coffeemaker feel to it. It features a monochromatic design which allows you to pay attention to the tea extract, by making that portion transparent. The tea maker comprises three main parts – the water tank, the brewing section, and the glass container.

Why is it noteworthy?

The glass container is transparent and gives the teak maker a really appealing and sleek look. You pour the brewed tea into that section. The tea maker also has a fourth component – which is basically the base and it looks like an induction stove, although it does include lesser buttons.

What we like

• Brings a peaceful and zen-like sensation to the tea-making process
• Sleek monochromatic design that will blend well with modern kitchens

What we dislike

• It is a concept, so we don’t know how well it will work in reality

Here at YD, we’re always coming across super cool and powerful automotive designs, but somehow the conceptual ones seem to take the cake. And we’ve really encountered some amazing automotive designs recently Each automotive design was cutthroat and innovative, bringing in something that we don’t usually see in the market. From killer speed to dashing good looks, to impenetrable safety standards, every automotive we featured at YD broke some design barrier for us, and hopefully, they did the same for you as well. Hence, we’ve curated a collection of automotive designs that we feel were the best of the lot.  Each of these drool-worthy automobile concepts is mercilessly pushing the boundaries of the automotive industry.

1. Diode

Dubbed Diode, this visually intriguing e-bike concept is created by Tien Hung, and it features a super cool neo-minimalistic design that celebrates the future of the electric power train. The bike has an aesthetic which is almost invisible, except for one singular horizontal pillar, which runs gently from the dashboard to the taillight, accentuated by a massive battery module underneath it. The bike is also equipped with a powerful rear-wheel drivetrain and a comfy seat.

2. Polestar 8

Designed by Turin-based Salvatore Ville – this is the Polestar 8. It is an SUV concept that beautifully embraces minimalism but with an interesting twist. Vurin imparted the car with a powerful and dominating silhouette, instead of only clean surfaces. This menacing automotive looks like the Polestar 3 on steroids! It features a wider and more brutish design. It does maintain a clean design but with a more roguish personality.

3. Mercedes-Benz Dresscode

The Mercedes-Benz Dresscode is the epitome of iconic luxury and encapsulates it through the shapes of collars and rich volumes and of a formal dress. If you observe the hypercar, you’ll notice that it mimics the form of a white shirt with a tie on top, and a black jacket placed over it. The white sections serve as the shirt with the edged surfaces, while the black body that covers the car reminds you of a jacket. The doors have been created to resemble the process of taking off a suit!

4. Palladio

Dubbed Palladio, this concept for a hybrid yacht is designed to be ultra-light and can speed up to 55 knots maximum. It looks straight out of a sci-fi movie set in water and features a futuristic, mouth-shaped, avant-garde design that gives the impression that a pod is cruising through the waters. The yacht is made from carbon fiber propelled via twin Castoldi jets, and powered by two FTP engines.

5. H-Box

Dubbed the H-Box, this conceptual automotive design converts a car into a box-like machine. It is a two-seater model with chairs that are placed at the back of the cabin. However, you still need to pay attention to the manual control form in this car, unlike most self-driving automotive concepts. The driver’s seat can be moved forward to handle the steering if needed. This creates an even bigger gap between the two seats, which is great for two people who want their own space in the car.

6. Swift Pod

The Swift Pod looks like a massive motorcycle that stands on two wheels only! And this innovative automotive has such a unique shape to hold two adult-sized beds inside, one on each side of the triangle. Besides having two beds, it also houses two chairs, amenities, and the vehicle’s hardware and different bits. This is a fascinating mode of transport that lets you sleep through your commute or journey if you wish to.

7. MOQBA

Named MOQBA, this innovative conceptual design is a dynamic mix of a bike and an e-scooter. This fascinating automotive can climb stairs! It was created to be a next-gen mobility ride for users who may have difficulty with mobility. You can ride this unconventional automotive on four independent legs with wheel extensions. The MOQBA is intended to be a one-of-a-kind and exceptional mini mecha of the future.

8. BMW Motorrad CH4 Superbike

Called the BMW Motorrad CH4 Superbike – this exceptional café racer is designed by Sabino Leerentvled, and it is a ride fit for Tony Stark and his quests to take on the bad guys. The superbike has an aerodynamic geometric shape and big fat wheels which offer it a high-speed adrenaline rush. The bike truly has a massive Tony Stark influence, and it would look amazing zipping through the crowded streets in pursuit of the bad guys.

9. Apple iCar

Dubbed the Apple iCar – this conceptual automotive concept has a luxurious supercar-inspired appeal to it. It has influences of the Audi R8 and the lesser-known Lamborghini Asterion in the iCar. The automotive has an aggressive, speedy silhouette, stunning headlights and taillights, and a rounded back. It features an Apple logo on the front, and each wheel is equipped with stunning rims with the Apple logos on them.

10. Yamaev’s Scooter Concept

This tricycle scooter concept is made up of a unique rectangular side profile that gently pierces through the air, in the same manner a credit card would swipe through a payment machine. The scooter also features a wheel setup with a large front wheel which covers the scooter’s transparent cockpit. The cockpit is bubble-shaped, and it has two rear wheels which separate at lower speeds to provide stability. The wheels also combine at higher speeds for maneuverability.
