Grosse panique sur la blockchain Ethereum ! Alors qu’on pensait la technologie des registres distribués imparable, voilà qu’elle se fait braquer en un clin d’œil par deux petits génies de l’informatique. Anton et James Peraire-Bueno, deux frérots qui ont étudié au MIT, une des facs les plus prestigieuses des States, ont mis au point un plan diabolique pour s’enrichir sur le réseau Ethereum.
Les frangins ont bien travaillé et ont réussi à exploiter une vulnérabilité dans le protocole mev-boost, qui permet aux validateurs de vendre leur espace de bloc à un marché ouvert d’acteurs spécialisés appelés « builders ». En se faisant passer pour des validateurs légitimes, les frères ont pu accéder au contenu des blocs avant leur publication et en extraire des transactions lucratives !
Résultat des courses : 20 millions de dollars de cryptos qui s’envolent en quelques secondes chrono. Un casse éclair daté du 3 avril 2023, qui en laisse plus d’un sur le carreau et qui pourrait bien faire trembler tout l’écosystème. C’est que la confiance, c’est la base des échanges sur ces réseaux !
Mais attention, les frères Peraire-Bueno sont loin d’être des enfants de chœur. Pour planquer leur magot, ces petits malins ont tout prévu : des sociétés-écrans, des comptes dans tous les sens et même un plan d’attaque en règle pour brouiller les pistes. Sauf que c’était sans compter sur les fins limiers du fisc américain, qui ont flairé l’embrouille et décortiqué tout le stratagème. Parce que bon, faire des recherches sur Google pour savoir comment blanchir du pognon, c’est un peu cramé comme technique… Bref, les frangins risquent maintenant 20 ans à l’ombre pour chaque chef d’accusation. Pas sûr que ça valait le coup !
Mais au-delà de l’histoire rocambolesque, c’est toute la sécurité des blockchains qui est remise en question. Si même le sacro-saint Ethereum peut se faire dépouiller en deux temps trois mouvements, où va-t-on ? Les experts s’écharpent déjà sur les forums pour savoir si c’est un bug isolé ou une faille béante dans le système de « proposer-builder separation » (PBS) utilisé par mev-boost.
Heureusement, la communauté Ethereum réagit rapidement. Un patch a été déployé dès le 3 avril pour colmater la brèche exploitée par les frères Peraire-Bueno. D’autres vulnérabilités potentielles ont aussi été identifiées et des contre-mesures mises en place, comme l’ajout d’un délai limite pour empêcher les validateurs malveillants de demander un bloc trop tard.
Mais bon, il reste encore du boulot alors on espère que les développeurs, chercheurs en sécurité, opérateurs de relais mev-boost… travailleront main dans la main pour renforcer le protocole mev-boost et les futures implémentations de PBS.

With the new chess set, it has conceived using recycled biomaterials (PLA) and 3D printing, the NGO is giving everyone a chance to jump onto their journey of creativity, sustainability, and giving back, helping make a difference and restore homes in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

The stackable chess set is inspired by the war-torn and displaced Kharkiv, which has been on the receiving end of the Russian invasion. Called the Kindachess – S, this set 3D-printed from naturally degradable bioplastics – features a board segmented to depict the nation under war. It is designed as fractures on the earth’s crust. But when it’s stacked to be stored, the dividing lines on the board form the Ukrainian flag to depict unity and the satisfaction of returning home.
The idea of a chess set whose profit from sales proceeds would go into restoring homes in Kharkiv is the brainchild of designer Liam Hwang of Cuibiono. The compact, stackable chess set is 3D printed sustainably in Hackney, London. It measures 200mm x 200mm when laid out for playing and fits into a case measuring 290mm x 164mm after use.
This is not Cuibiono’s first such sustainably driven product with the idea of giving back. The NGO states, “we are committed to sustainability.” All the products designed in their facilities are crafted with eco-friendly materials (like recycled PLA in the case of the chess set). The chess set, selling in two color contrasts: wheat and sky, ivory and walnut, is now available at £200 (approximately $250). Wowo Multipurpose Furniture is a collection of items that can serve that purpose for parents that need stuff for their human kids and their fur-babies. The pieces in the collection have round and playful forms and colorful hues which makes it attractive for those that will use the seats and tables. The shapes are inspired by the mouth shape that children make when they say the cute word “wowo”. The hollow structure combined with the “saturation color and mellow shape” adds to the comfort that both kids and pets will get when they use the furniture.
The kids can sit on the chairs with their feet hanging or knees bent, whichever is more comfortable with them. Some of the seats are hallowed so this is where the pets can stay, to give a harmonious space for the two kinds of “children”. The main part of the furniture uses 3D-printing technology and magnetic assembly structure while the supporting structure uses solid wood in primary colors, processed and formed by machine cutting and manual grinding.
The collection is made up of various chairs and tables, some with the hallowed parts and stands for the pets to rest and play with. The pastel colors also add to the feeling of warmth and comfort. And because of the shape and colors of the items, they can also serve as part of your space’s decoration when not in use (or even when in use), especially if pastel and warm colors are your aesthetic.

Vous vous souvenez d’AlphaFold 2, ce modèle d’IA assez dingue de Google DeepMind qui avait fait des avancées majeures dans la prédiction des structures de protéines ? Eh bien, la version 3 vient de débarquer et elle repousse encore un peu plus les limites !
AlphaFold 3, c’est comme si on passait d’un film noir et blanc du genre la Vache et Le Prisonnier à un film en 3D style Avatar, car non seulement il prédit avec une précision impressionnante la structure 3D des protéines, mais il est également capable de modéliser leurs interactions avec tout un tas d’autres molécules : l’ADN, l’ARN, les petites molécules organiques comme les médicaments, et même les modifications chimiques.
Concrètement, ça veut dire qu’on va pouvoir mieux comprendre comment toutes ces molécules qui nous composent s’assemblent et fonctionnent ensemble, comme les rouages de l’horloge cosmique de la viiiie. Un sacré bond en avant pour décrypter les processus biologiques fondamentaux et leurs dysfonctionnements à l’origine des maladies.
Son secret, évidemment, c’est une architecture de réseau de neurones encore plus puissante et entraînée sur une montagne de données moléculaires. Le cœur du système repose sur un module Evoformer amélioré, couplé à une nouvelle approche basée sur des réseaux de diffusion qui partent d’un nuage d’atomes pour converger vers la structure moléculaire la plus probable.
Et les résultats sont vraiment impressionnants puisque sur les jeux de données de référence, AlphaFold 3 bat des records avec des améliorations significatives par rapport aux méthodes existantes. Pour certaines catégories d’interactions, comme celles avec les médicaments, il augmente même nettement la précision des prédictions. Et tout ça sans même avoir besoin de données structurales en entrée.
Mais le plus cool, c’est que c’est open source (Edit : Apparemment, ça ne l’est plus malheureusement – Merci à Enthuo pour la correction) et accessible gratuitement à la communauté scientifique via le nouveau serveur AlphaFold. Cet outil permet à n’importe quel chercheur de générer des prédictions pour ses protéines d’intérêt en quelques clics, là où il fallait avant un travail titanesque et des moyens conséquents. Bref, de quoi démocratiser la biologie structurale et accélérer les découvertes !
Évidemment, avec une telle puissance vient aussi de grandes responsabilités, alors les gros cerveaux derrière DeepMind ont longuement planché avec de nombreux experts et organismes pour définir un cadre éthique et limiter les risques de mésusage comme on dit. Parce qu’autant un AlphaFold entre de bonnes mains, ça peut faire avancer la science et la médecine de façon spectaculaire, autant on n’a pas envie de voir débarquer des virus ou des prions tueurs conçus par des apprentis sorciers.
Mais j’ai hâte de voir ce que la communauté scientifique va réussir à faire avec cet outil génial. Peut-être de nouvelles enzymes pour des applications industrielles, des matériaux bio-inspirés aux propriétés uniques, ou des protéines thérapeutiques plus efficaces ? En tout cas une chose est sûre, la révolution biotech ne fait que commencer et nul doute qu’AlphaFold 3 en sera l’un des acteurs clés !

Created by LEGO builder Spacemanship, the build is made using 2999 pieces. He wanted to give people suffering from anxiety an outlet or channel for their emotions, and he really did a great job with this LEGO kit. The LEGO Ideas submission garnered a 10,000 votes milestone, and will soon be converted into a buyable LEGO kit.
Made by LEGO user Mecesoo, this intriguing brick-based portrait captures and recreates the essence of Picasso’s stroke by using colorful plastic bricks instead. The portrait is built using 1070 bricks without any loose bricks or collisions. The build is almost true in size to the original, hence serving as a brilliant replica. The painting is teamed up with a Minifigure of Picasso, an easel with his canvas on it, as well as two Picasso quotes with the artist’s signature.
Van Gogh’s sunflowers become quite popular on Instagram, garnering a whole lot of attention. And LEGO master builder Chi Hsin Wei converted it into a stunning LEGO rendition. Tetris sur NES – c’est un classique indémodable, un monument du jeu vidéo mais c’est aussi un terrain de jeu sans fin pour les hackers et les bidouilleurs de génie. Tenez-vous bien, ces derniers ont trouvé un moyen de reprogrammer Tetris en pleine partie ! Je vous jure, c’est pas une blague. Ils arrivent à exécuter leur propre code en partant d’une cartouche normale, sans aucune modification matérielle.
Voici comment ça marche :
En atteignant des scores très élevés (comme le niveau 155) et en entrant des noms bien spécifiques dans le tableau des high scores, ils réussissent à réécrire des portions de la RAM du jeu. Concrètement, ils peuvent modifier les règles, ajouter des fonctionnalités, ce qu’ils veulent.
Mais le plus dingue, c’est quand ils font leur tour de magie. Bah oui, vous connaissez le fameux kill screen de Tetris ? C’est ce moment où après une partie marathon, il y a tellement de données que le jeu plante… Et bien nos petits génies provoquent volontairement ce crash qui en réalité, devient leur porte d’entrée pour injecter leur code personnel.
Techniquement, ils exploitent une faille dans la gestion des manettes car sur les Famicom, il y avait un port d’extension pour brancher des manettes supplémentaires et quand le jeu crashe, il perd les pédales et va interpréter n’importe quoi comme instruction, y compris les fameuses entrées de manettes. Résultat : vous appuyez sur des boutons bien précis au bon moment, et ça redirige l’exécution du programme exactement où vous voulez !
Évidemment, tout ça c’est d’un niveau de difficulté extrême, il faut connaître le jeu et la console sur le bout des doigts. Mais comme ils ont désassemblé le code de Tetris en langage machine, ils savent exactement ce que fait chaque octet de la ROM. Et la beauté de la chose, c’est que ça fonctionne sur une NES standard, avec une cartouche originale. Pas besoin d’un Game Genie ou d’un émulateur. Du 100% pur jus rétro…
Par contre, il ne faut pas être trop gourmand non plus. On parle de reprogrammer un jeu en passant par les high scores, donc vous n’aurez jamais de quoi coder un truc plus complexe… et puis il faut rusher le truc à chaque partie, parce que dès que vous éteignez la console, pouf ça s’efface. C’est vraiment de la bidouille éphémère, il faut aimer l’art pour l’art.
Mais je trouve ça cool car il y a un côté »hacker la Matrice » assez jouissif. Ça me donne presque envie de ressortir ma vieille NES pour essayer… Mais je suis pas encore assez bon à Tetris. Mais si vous voulez essayer chez vous, il vous faudra :

Attention, vous êtes très limité dans les instructions possibles ! Vous ne pouvez utiliser que les 43 caractères autorisés pour les noms et les 10 chiffres pour les scores. La plupart des opcodes du processeur sont impossibles à reproduire ainsi. Mais avec de l’astuce, c’est jouable. Par exemple, essayez ceci pour votre 1ère position en A-Type : (A name of '))"-P)' . Ce code basique injecte deux zéros dans les digits de poids fort du score, ce qui limite son augmentation et retarde le crash du jeu (sans le corriger complètement).Voilà, vous savez tout. Avec un peu d’entraînement, vous pourrez à votre tour hacker Tetris comme un pro mais n’oubliez pas, c’est un grand pouvoir qui se mérite et qui implique de grandes responsabilités ! (non)

Voici une info qui va vous faire voir les VPN sous un autre angle. Bah oui, parce que si vous pensiez que votre petit tunnel chiffré préféré vous mettait à l’abri des regards indiscrets quand vous surfez depuis un réseau public, désolé de casser vos rêves, mais c’est loin d’être le cas !
Une équipe de chercheurs de Leviathan Security a découvert une faille qu’ils ont baptisée TunnelVision qui permet de court-circuiter la protection des VPN à l’aiiise, grâce à une fonctionnalité bien pratique du protocole DHCP, ce bon vieux serviteur qui distribue des adresses IP à tout va.
En gros, quand vous vous connectez à un réseau, votre machine demande gentiment une adresse IP au serveur DHCP local. Jusque là, tout va bien. Sauf que ce protocole a plus d’un tour dans son sac. Il peut notamment pousser des règles de routage sur votre bécane, via une option peu connue appelée « Classless Static Route » ou option 121.
Concrètement, un attaquant qui contrôle le serveur DHCP peut installer des routes par défaut sur votre machine, ce qui lui permet de rediriger tout votre trafic vers sa propre passerelle, même si vous êtes connecté via un VPN ! Et là, c’est le drame, car il peut intercepter toutes vos données en clair. 😱
Bon, rassurez-vous, il y a quand même quelques conditions pour que cette attaque fonctionne :
Mais quand même, ça fait froid dans le dos, d’autant que cette faille touche potentiellement tous les réseaux, des petits réseaux domestiques aux gros réseaux d’entreprise. Les chercheurs ont d’ailleurs réussi à l’exploiter sur Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, et même sur des distributions Linux.

Les fournisseurs de VPN ont évidemment aussi un rôle à jouer en documentant publiquement les mesures d’atténuation contre TunnelVision et en avertissant leurs utilisateurs des risques.
Bref, en attendant un éventuel correctif, la prudence reste de mise. Mais en appliquant les bonnes pratiques et en restant vigilants, on peut quand même limiter les dégâts ! This collection features eco-friendly pieces of furniture that were a result of input from Kartell and Starck and streamlined by A.I. particularly in terms of prototyping and planning. It was able to contribute to make the collection sustainable and optimize the materials used resulting in reduced waste. Creating eco-friendly products is the ultimate goal and the combination of design, production, and A.I. helped achieve this.
The A.I. Lounge uses thermoplastic techno polymer with a mineral filler. It is available in white, black, green, and gray and can be used both indoors and outdoors or wherever you want to lounge around. The H.H.H Her Highest Highness meanwhile is a chair that should make you sit like a royal. The way the back is shaped will force you to sit as if on a throne. It uses green polycarbonate material for the eco-friendly aspect.
The A.I. Console meanwhile is a minimalist small table that can be placed in the foyers, vestibules, entrances, and hallways, or anywhere you need to have a small stand or table for your stuff. It sports a one legged design and is made from recycled Illy iPerEspresso coffee capsules. You can get it in orange, white, gray, or black.
